After wrestling with a serious case of the flu all last week (yup, right in time for the holidays!), I’m glad to say I’m back at this fashion game! Oh, and not a minute too soon!
It’s time to decide what trends we’re rolling with come 2014, and which ones we’ll leave in the 2013 reject pile.
Let’s have at it.
1. Crop Tops
It’s the trend that launched a thousand crunches and gym memberships. Sure, crop tops have been around for what seems like forever. But in 2013, the trend really got proper shine!
Whether it was thrown on for a day at the beach, or viewing hot art pieces in Miami, it girls couldn’t get enough of the midriff baring top.
It’s too hard to say goodbye. I’m keeping this one on deck!
When the plaid trend exploded, it really made a boom. As the temperatures began to dip, we saw celebs and everyday fashionistas alike clinging to the seasonal pattern more and more.
The men didn’t miss out on the action either.
J.Lo gave the trend a whirl with her Michael Kors coat.
Eh, I’ll admit, I’m almost over this trend. How about you?
3. White Pumps
In 2013, it seemed as though your shoe game was incomplete if you didn’t have a fly pair of crisp white pumps on deck. Though a topic of heavy debate, they were undeniably inescapable this year.
White heels gave outfits the perfect pop without being over the top. Both casual and formal outfits were given a nice upgrade with a pair of snow white stilettos.
I know some of you can’t stand ’em, but I’ll be bringing my white heels with me well into 2014!
4. Sheer Inserts/ Cutouts
Love it or hate it, bodies were on full display in 2013! Perhaps no other trend highlighted the impeccable physique of Hollywood starlets better than sheer inserts and cutouts.
It wasn’t a big ticket event if flesh wasn’t being served up for the photogs and fans alike. At every event, the envelope was continuously pushed further.
When tastefully done, this look is remarkable. I’m just not here for celebs seeing which one can reveal more on the red carpet. Keep it cute, ladies!
5. Black and White Graphic Print
In 2013, the classic black and white was given added punch when infused with funky prints. Slipping into a two tone number gave effortless chic while providing an ample dose of modern sophistication.
Fashion Bomb readers were all over this trend, showing us how to rock it right.
How can you ever go wrong with black and white?
It’s going in my arsenal for 2014!
There you have it! What trends are you bringing into the new year? What trends are you leaving behind?
