Indie designer Shavonne Deann sent over images from her Fall/Winter 2011 collection, titled The Color Wheel:
Diverging from her typical form fitting silhouettes, Deann proposes slouchy pants, loose sweaters, and easy dresses cast in a series of rich autumn colors:
Though I’d probably pass on the roomy trousers, I’d definitely fall in line with the single striped pencil skirt or the gold and navy dress with cut outs.

I love finding cool accessories lines, and instantly fell in love with the crystal accented celestial pieces by LYRALOVESTAR:
Created by celebrity stylist Crystal Streets (her clients include Ciara, Will Smith, Jay-Z, Rihanna, Usher, and Mariah Carey), the collection comprises gold baubles fashioned into moon, star, and sun inspired shapes.
The line made its fashion week debut at Sammy B’s Spring 2012 fashion show, accenting fringed tops and dresses with daring cuts:
Seems the collection will also make a cameo on Season 2 of VH1′s Love & Hip Hop (which looks super juicy, no?):

Designer Rachel Roy recently sat down with us to discuss her latest line of comfy tees and sporty jackets created in collaboration with basketball player Amaré Stoudemire:
The collection, which mixes soft masculine touches with fluid fabrics, is pegged for the tomboy who likes to look fly when keeping it casual.
About the unlikely pairing, Rachel says, “In my collaborations, I always look to partner with someone who is amazing at what they do in a field I don’t work in, to give my girls/customers a fresh outlook and introduce them to something they perhaps did not know much about. I think it makes things much more interesting and innovative when you bring 2 different viewpoints together, and I also am always looking to learn and then share what I learn. We both are visionaries and both have a passion for style and design. There are great team logo pieces but there are always just great pieces that don’t have NBA team logos on them. It works great anywhere – including courtside!”
About working with Amaré, she said, “The way that Amar’e infuses his own sense of style and personality into what he does was also a telltale sign that he is the best and has a passion for the art of fashion. It was a great opportunity to work with Amar’e to create something that is casual, sporty but still sexy and cool for women to wear not only to basketball games, but for sportswear as well. I’ve been a Knicks fan, ever since I moved to NYC, I love going to Madison Square Garden for the extraordinary energy it creates, the same type of energy you can literally touch that you also feel at fashion shows…”

I recently learned about Chenai, a contemporary brand which uses traditional African prints to fashion modern silhouettes:
Created by London based designers Paida Fundira and Tasha Antwi, the inaugural ‘Kaleidescope’ collection offers fun rompers, funky bustiers, mini and maxi skirts, and chic halter dresses.
Pieces can be mixed and matched to meld with your wardrobe; pair a orange, burgundy, and moss skirt with a black tank or wear a vibrantly patterned bustier top with your slate gray maxi.

It’s rare a line truly stops me in my tracks and makes me think, “Wow, that’s uniquely pretty.” I had just that reaction when I stumbled across designer Vanessa G out of London, UK.
Launched earlier this year, the luxury line combines fashion and art.
Each piece is a moving painting, reflective of beautiful nature scenes and urban skylines.

What better way to kick off the weekend than with a quick spotlight on a up-and-coming talent?
Detroit, Michigan native Kristina E. Taylor recently launched Ettiket, a line of fun, simple separates and accessories made for women want to stand out while staying comfortable.
A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technlogoy, Taylor worked at J.Crew, Anna Sui, and Ralph Lauren before launching her own line.
She said, “Creating my own fashion line has been a dream of mine for years now. Growing up, I would cut, paint, stone wash, and bleach my clothes. I have a twin sister and attended private schools, so I always had the urge to create a look that I could call my own.”
She continues, “I truly enjoy designing clothes helping people feel and look their best. It’s a very gratifying feeling.”
