Show Review: Yves Saint Laurent Resort 2012

Stefano Pilati for Yves Saint Laurent transformed the nautical sailor into an unmistakeably chic queen with his Resort 2012  Collection. Forties-inspired frocks with a captain’s spin set the tone for the collection.  Sleek blazers and red trench coat dresses were festooned with gold sailor buttons, along with 1940’s pin-up girl sweetheart tops with ruched sleeves and frilly shorts.

YSL’s choice of colors were subtle yet bold, building the momentum with a classic white cotton blouse and matching pant set, down to a loud stripped yellow, white, and black blouse with billowy sleeves and black short shorts.

Accessories ranged from wedge-heeled espadrilles, to oversized sailor inspired handbags, and choker necklaces with dangling golden anchors.

The looks easily transitioned from daytime into evening with elegant floral gowns with clean silhouettes perfect for a night out on the town or a romantic dinner cruise at sea.
