• Show Review: Vivienne Westwood Spring 2013

Vivienne Westwood is fashion’s Queen of Punk, but she is also the queen of making statements with her designs. In true Westwood fashion, she went bold for her Spring 2013 collection, titled “Climate Revolution”. She has become devoted to environmental causes and though her latest offerings didn’t make any specific eco-friendly message, the influence was palpable with butterfly embellishment (Mariah Carey would be proud) and a definite change in climate when it came to the show’s diverse cast of models, sporting the house’s signature face paint of course.

The same print was used on several designs: a gold medallion pattern set on top of different color backgrounds that was simultaneously Indian-inspired and baroque.

There were more than a few leg-baring looks that didn’t feel like Vivienne Westwood at all, but were certainly some of the collection’s most risqué ensembles.

Paris Fashion Week can sometimes get quite serious, but not if Dame Viv has anything to say about it. She truly put on a show and some of her designs were completely fun and outrageous: a cross between Marie Antoinette and Anna Dello Russo.

    What do you think?
