Saving the rainforest is one of Vivienne Westwood’s most passionate crusades, thus the famed designer took to Peru to spend some time with the Asháninka people. They influenced her Fall 2014 collection with all of its intricate embroidery, feather embellishment, and vibrant patterns.
The brand is never one for pared-down style, thus its signature face paint and layers upon layers of eye-catching pieces lent that quintessential dramatic Westwood flair.
When all the trademark Westwood pomp and circumstance was stripped away, there were actually some functional pieces at play including Fall-perfect plaid blanket coats and printed cropped trousers.
For the evening segment, Westwood pulled inspiration from couturier Charles Worth with Victorian-inspired tailcoats, high-necked silhouettes, and a bounty of tulle. Rita Ora and Katy Perry might opt for the collection’s sexier wrap dresses instead, but if they truly want to steal the show, they will be fearless and try on a printed ruffle gown or a fiery red number with a voluminous full skirt.
