• Show Review: Versace Resort 2015

Donatella Versace traveled back to the 60’s for Versace’s latest collection. The Italian fashion house has a propensity for flash and that came in heavy doses with bold prints and a slew of fabrics to give the dazzling designs an added boost.

Few things demonstrate Sixties style better than a shift dress and those were shown with the brand’s signature Medusa and Greek key motifs, punchy polka dots, and edgy zipper detailing. Knee-high gladiator sandals, peep-toe boots, and neon high-top sneakers anchored the looks for poignant shoe statements, while mirror lens aviators, black leather crossbody bags, and mini versions of the Signature tote rounded out the accessory offerings.

Suiting came in chic yet unexpected forms with a geometric printed zip-front jacket paired with a matching skirt, boldly patterned blazers layered over a crop top and mini skirt, a full on python combination for those craving a taste of the exotic, and an expertly-tailored black coupling with a gold shimmering Greek key motif cinching the blazer’s waist.

An athletic-inspired vibe was thrown into the sharp mix with sporty parkas, windbreakers, baseball caps, and slip-on sneakers in citrus, the aforementioned geometric prints with gold Medusa motifs, a black shiny coated fabric for urbane sleekness, and pink patent for girlish flair.

Cocktail-ready and evening attire were surprisingly tame, though they still had that quintessential Versace shimmer and sex appeal. A lavender and black dress was the definition of two-faced with a zipper detailing one side and a pleated chiffon hem accenting the other, while an asymmetric neckline LBD featured the same shimmering gold Greek key motif as a previously mentioned suit — sheer this time around for extra sensuality. The big showstopper was a column gown that bared loads of leg with a thigh-high slit, courtesy of a gold zipper. Knee-high, zip-front cutout boots provided the perfect complements.
