Show Review: Rachel Roy Pre-Fall 2013

It’s showtime again! Can you believe it? The Pre-Fall 2013 collections are rolling out and first up is Fashion Bomb favorite Rachel Roy. Chock full of luxurious mixed textures and prints inspired by her time in Kenya and Haiti, Roy’s latest offerings are just what the modern day woman ordered in menswear silhouettes gone feminine, leather trousers, printed pencil skirts, and so much more.

Trinidadian model Teresa Lourenco brings the undeniably sexy yet functional looks to life. Work-perfect wide leg trousers in candy colors, structured blazers that work from day to night, classic trenches with a twist to give your wardrobe a boost: Roy continues her place in the industry as a go-to for those who traipse through the concrete jungle everyday and then go glam for nighttime’s most stylish soirées.

Roy is truly the master of the mix: not just different prints and textures paired together effortlessly, but also the mélange of different silhouettes. A metallic knit sweater layered over a pencil skirt, a python vest giving exotic flair to a structured sheath: these are the kinds of looks that keep us all waiting with bated breath at what she will try next, while simultaneously giving her devoted customers ways to add some pop to their wardrobes.

The designer herself will surely wear the collection’s blazers and trousers at high-fashion events in the coming months, though I know that fans including Angela Simmons, Viola Davis, and Freida Pinto will also opt for the dresses and skirts.

What do you think?
