A swimsuit was the starting point of Ohne Titel’s Resort 2015 collection and it couldn’t have been more apropos given the season’s name. A scuba-inspired elbow-length sleeve crop top and high waist bottom spanning various shades of blue spoke to the brand’s ever-present sporty aesthetic. The midriff-baring designs continued, though paired with striped high-waist skirts and zebra print shorts, echoing the assortment’s pervading theme: functionality.
Flora Gill and Alexa Adams pulled inspiration from the work of Latvian artist Sven Lukin, whose signatures were his penchant for animated color palettes, geometric illusionism, and flirtatious curved forms. One couldn’t help but be drawn to a black and white striped dress with tiered pleated detailing and a flare dress in the same classic print with a shaded pink side on model Grace Mahary: both dazzling enough to make an impression now, but timeless enough to continue packing a punch for years to come.
The lineup was all about mixing and matching and the pieces with which you could actually do that were the most intriguing to me. Colorful zebra striped collarless blouses, flippy mini skirts, bodycon designs with mesh hems and contrast side stripes: these are the looks that athletic-inspired women’s wardrobes are made of.
As a whole, Gill and Adams weren’t looking to defy the sartorial odds or push the Ohne Titel woman into any uncharted territory. What they did achieve was renewed excitement in their brand, as well as uncovering ways to be approachable yet innovative.
