• Show Review: Norma Kamali Resort 2013

Norma Kamali has become known for her retro-inspired swimwear and cutout dresses, thus her Resort collections for the brand are just extensions of her seasonal offerings: giving her die-hard fans a few more maillots to covet. For her latest designs, she pulls inspiration from the London Olympics and more than a few looks make that obvious, boasting stripes (no stars unfortunately) and the classic red, white, and blue color palette of the USA.

If you’re looking for more of an edge, there are a few studded designs and one comprised of fringe and lace, which is certainly meant for the boudoir and not any poolside destination.

Metallics anyone? Kamali gives us a heavy dosage of them in lamé, even throwing in one of her coveted sheer illusion dresses in silver for good measure.

For the harsh snap back to reality after a vacation, there are more than enough pieces to keep you warm. Kamali presents her signature nylon sleeping bag coats as well as other designs in the same fabric including a vest, messenger bag, and oversize scarf.

Hot! I am an avid fan of Norma Kamali’s designs and this collection is right in line with what she does best. I will admit that the sleeping bag messenger and scarf lost me a bit, but I do not doubt that the more eccentric sartorially-minded characters will gravitate toward them and definitely wear them during Fashion Week.

What do you think of Norma Kamali’s latest collection?
