Show Review: Kenzo Fall 2012

If you’ve ever set foot into an Opening Ceremony store, you already know that co-founders Humberto Leon and Carol Lim are hip to what’s hot. For their second season designing for historical house Kenzo, they injected their fun spirit into every piece, proffering bold colors, mixed prints, and lush fabrics.

Their Fall 2012 inspiration was the girl at home who outfits herself in fabrics reminiscent of couches or curtains. But instead of skewing dowdy, the collection was fun and flouncy, boasting bold colored fruit and floral prints, checks, stripes, and ample doses of plum, cobalt blue, green, and yellow hues.

Rounded printed bombers and matching pleated short skirts contrasted with a geometric patterned tops and neon accented boots. Mid thigh skimming cocktails in salmon were worn with enamel bangles and resin covered walnut jewelry (created by Fendi heirress Delfina Delettrez).

The duo even popped a few logo’ed sweaters onto the runway, paring them with tweed skirts close fit patterned pants. I can totally see a fashionable bold ‘it’ girl, like Solange, rocking any number of these pieces with panache.

While watching the show, I said to myself, ,”Next season when I come to this show, I’m wearing Kenzo.” The bright hues appealed to my ‘fashionista’ side, while a few buttoned up looks were earmarked for the polished prep.

Truthfully, I could see any girl rocking this collection, from the logo loving diva to the zany, sartorially adventurous front row fixture.

But what do you think ?
Would you wear Kenzo Fall 2012?
