Show Review: Faster by Mark Fast Spring 2012 Presentation

Last night, I attended Mark Fast‘s Spring 2012 presentation in which the designer served up his signature slinky knits in sherbet hues we long for during spring. Fast presented in a spacious white room, clinical save for the neon signs and berry toned lighting. Models clomped out to a moving turntable at the end of the runway while guests sipped lemonade.

Skirt hems are punctuated by asymmetrical cuts and fringe. Strategically placed holes and mesh panels mimic the modern body ideal, creating (or accentuating) a curvaceous silhouette for the girl Fast imagined for this collection. Sleek bodysuits add another dimension of sex appeal. Hole-y knee socks bring a kind of false innocence to the decidedly cheeky looks, many of which could easily double as barely there beach cover ups.

Models stood intently stoic with slick hair and makeup in more saturated versions of the cotton candy shades they sported. As evidenced by Richard Chai, purple and blue lipstick might prove to be big this spring.

Rose-colored lenses emboldened coral peices, which happened to be the brightest hues in this collection.

Overall, the collection lives up to Faster’s standard of “luxury basics.” While these outfits will certainly be difficult for most women to wear, there is something I find rather appealing about the floor-length mesh paneled gowns.

What do you think? Could you see yourself rocking any of these looks?
