So when I interviewed Dwight Eubanks of Real Housewives of Atlanta fame backstage at the ARISE fashion show, he revealed that he would be showing his own ‘Toolbox’ collection on Monday. As with all things Real Housewife related, I was skeptical…until I received the press release.

Apparently the show would go on at 9pm Monday night in the meatpacking district, so, encouraged by a few Dwight lovin’ Twitter followers, I went:

I was slightly impressed by the professionalism of the event. Dwight had a very legitimate looking press check in, and once I received my armband, I made my way downstairs to a room filled with people:

I recognized several stylists, fashionistas, and editors from Sheree’s event, and also spied former America’s Next Top Model Jade and former Apprentice castmate Stacy J. It wasn’t the most star studded gathering, but it was surprisingly well attended.

After a few introductory songs and performances…

…Dwight sent out his definition of high fashion.

His male and female models were outfitted in lingerie for the first few looks, with men in semi sheer white and black unitards with artfully placed cut outs, and women in scintillatingly skimpy teddy’s, nighties, and g strings:

Audience goers gasped and audibly said “Oh my God” as buff mannequins sauntered by with breasts, butts, and chests on full display:

After the lingerie segment, Dwight teased the crowd with slick silken pajama combinations and robes, seemingly suited for the playboys and girls who spend lots of time lounging:

And ended his spectacular presentation with suits and oversized blazers, made to flatter both men and women:

Dwight is known on TV for his over the top personality, and his theatrical event simply reflected his flamboyant nature. I’d hesitate to call what I saw new and revolutionary, as it wasn’t. The robes, oversized suits, and skin baring lingerie pieces reminded me of an International Male catalog.
What I can say is that Dwight put on a great performance. The costumes, especially the feathered creations, were bold, bright, and unabashedly out there.  The lingerie wasn’t meant to make you run out and buy–rather it was simply shocking and titillating.  If Dwight’s goal was to put on a show, honey, he did. And I enjoyed every minute of it!

  1. Is that girl with the sheer pants and satin shirt not wearing any panties?!?!? OH MY!! I can’t say I’d rock these (except a few of the lingerie pieces for my man perhaps), but like you said, this is the essence of Dwight and I’m sure I would’ve loved the show too!

  2. Okay, is this supposed to be a lingerie line or something? It looks like something that would be sold at an adult store like Frederick’s of Hollywood. It’s okay if you’re wearing this to impress in bed.
