Diane von Furstenberg named her Spring 2013 collection “Palazzo” and the collection spoke to the best inspiration possible: her own life. If you follow DVF on Twitter, you know she’s always on-the-go, traveling to the world’s most exotic locales and truly making use of the word “jetsetter”. Global influences were palpable in her latest designs, which were given a modern twist with easy fabrics that can withstand a little rumpling in a suitcase and lavish embellishments for those looking to make an entrance.
Dresses and long tunics were layered easily over cropped trousers, bringing the style of Mumbai and Delhi to the concrete jungle of NYC. Talk about a way to get more wear out of your clothes, while also giving modern-day working women a chic spin on their office attire.
The DVF woman won’t be cold during the transition from Winter to Spring– a plethora of bright coats and printed and embellished blazers were shown on the runway.
Though it has been one of the must-have trends for a few seasons now, colorblocking showed no signs of slowing down on strapless jumpsuits, sari-inspired looks, and blouse and trouser combinations that could have been picked right off of the dance floor at Studio 54.
I live for DVF and this collection totally knocked me off of my feet! She really understands what women both love and need in their wardrobes and delivers each and every time. I can totally see fans like Solange Knowles and Jessica Alba in some of the bolder, colorblock combinations.
