Show Review: Carolina Herrera Fall 2014

For her latest Fall 2014 roundup, Carolina Herrera was truly thinking “round”: when it came to shoulders that is. The poignant start to looks ended in more linear shapes with sleek pencil skirts and cropped trousers. The palette began with the requisite autumnal earthy hues, bursting forth to fiery reds and bold blues. Pillbox hats and eye-catching tassel earrings served as statement-making accoutrements for the supremely feminine looks.

Karlie Kloss started the show in an all-black look comprised of a boiled wool coat with those aforementioned spherical shoulders, offset with a pony hair pencil skirt: an elegant play on proportions that was a theme throughout the collection. Herrera definitely won the texture game with Jackie Kennedy Onassis-esque pony hair sheath dresses, collarless coats boasting panels in the same texture, fur collar jackets given pop with cobalt blue exotic skin and matching pencil skirts, and feather hems.

Prints were audacious and geometric, sprawled across fur-detailed blouses, pencil skirts, airy maxi dresses, and sheaths belted at the waist to accentuate the female form: a skill Herrera has perfected.
