Scott Sterberg is about a certain ease, as witnessed by his latest collection for Band of Outsiders.
For Resort 2015, that meant oversized sweatshirts, shirt dresses, and roomy menswear inspired windowpane suits. The result came off slightly French — rightfully so, as the designer cited La Piscine and Contempt as points of inspiration — blending the best of casual and elegant, as the women walking along La Siene do so well.
Even the shoes from the collection, which pose as the brand’s first full collection of footwear, brought that ease. Wedges, peony loafers and wedges all erred on the side of comfort, rarely raising more than a few inches from the ground, and often worn without socks.
With the collection headed for stores in November, it seems the perfect mix for what amounts to one of the longest seasons: an oversized navy vest with adorable gold buttons matched with wide legged trousers for Saturday brunches while the sun is still out, and the perfect little black dress redux, done with simple but distinct leather straps and a slight bow at the back. Incroyable.
