Amidst all of the Resort 2015 ready-to-wear collections are the shoes that anchor all the fabulous looks! Next up for the season is Nicholas Kirkwood’s assortment of statement-making footwear:
From cork to translucent PVC, Kirkwood is layering on the texture while accenting the designs with eye-catching details including laces, gold pendants, and bows.
Many of the heel heights are modest — rounding out at 3 inches or less. Kirkwood can design a sky-high 6″ stunner with the best of them, thus this focus on functionality is important to note, especially for those of us who fancy walking to and fro versus hopping in and out of cabs for our main modes of transportation.
Flats also have a moment with chevron detailing, floral print, python, and the brand’s signature black and white zigzag print.
Kirkwood takes a leap toward jumping on the sneaker trend by adding contrast microsoles to the bottom of printed loafers, for refined versions of the sporty chic footwear.
I’m still of the mindset that it’s best to opt for simplicity when investing in luxury accessories, so as to punctuate your wardrobe with quality pieces that will last over time. The collection’s pointed-toe pumps in navy and fuchsia along with metallic loafers in pewter and copper are the most pared-down pieces in the bunch, but will look fabulous with everything from destructed denim to your favorite workplace sheath.
