• Pat Cleveland, Billie Blair, Alva Chinn, Iman, Bethann Hardison, and more attend the Tribute To The Models Of Versailles 1973 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art

Iconic models, designers, and artists gathered yesterday to celebrate the Tribute To The Models Of Versailles 1973:

As we mentioned in this post, the historic French fashion show put American designers on the map. And what set Americans apart? Their use of black models.

The event, hosted by Oscar de la Renta and Stephen Burrows, welcomed and gave tribute to Charlene Dash, Norma Jean Darden, Bethann Hardison, China Machado, Barbara Jackson, Romana Saunders, Pat Cleveland, Billie Blair, Alva Chinn, and Amina Warsuma. Liya Kebede, Veronica Webb, Iman, Jason Wu, Donna Karan, Sam Fine, Veronica Webb, June Ambrose, Estelle, Star Jones, and Soledad O’Brian were also in attendance.

    Looks like fun times!
And if any of those models names are unfamiliar, stay tuned! We’ll be doing a special on Black Models for Black History Month.
