Tricia Lee of Polish Bar of Brooklyn is celebrating her salon’s 5th anniversary by offering one lucky New York based Fashion Bombshell a $50 gift certificate:

If you follow me on Twitter, you’d know that I love, love, love Polish Bar! In addition to being a stone’s throw away from my house, they are one of the few places in Brooklyn offering all the hottest nail trends including Minx, Shatter Polish, and Gel.

Gold Lightning Minx--My Fave

The music is always bumping, the staff is to die, and service is quick and courteous. You’re gonna love this gift card!
I understand pampering and getting pretty is a luxury and out of the budget for many. If that’s the case for you, leave a comment telling us how much a mani/pedi would mean to you (or someone you know who needs a little R&R). I’ll choose based on need!

The winner will also be invited to Polish Bar’s super exclusive party on Thursday, August 11th. Fun!
So leave a comment and tell us why you deserve to get pretty!
I will choose 1 lucky reader at random. You must follow all rules to qualify. The contest ends Monday, August 8th, 2011 – 11:59 PM EST.

  1. I would like to nominate my sister in law to win this gift certificate. Michelle works extremely hard and she isturning 40 on August 12th. This would be such a great gift for her. She is a full time NYS Parole Officer, wife and mother to two kids (9 yrs old and 6 yrs old) and helps to take full time care of my mother in law who has advanced Alzheimer’s Disease. With everything going on, she still manages to be such a great person and contribute to her family, friends and community. I think she would love to have something that will allow her to focus on her for a little while, something I don’t think she does often enough.

  2. I deserve to win because I am struggling college student with a serious shopping problem who has just recently been denied a loan for school and is going through hell to get another.

  3. @Leahjanell I deserve to get pretty because last year valentines day a special dude was admiring my sister he lived in another state and wanted to do something speacial for her, he placed a certain dollar amount in my bank account and I went to polish bar and purchased a signature main & pedi for my sister from this dude!!! Needless to say my sister loved the gift and experience and the fact that Polish Bar is practically in our back yard makes thing 100% better!

  4. I am so excited that more people are talking about this place. I made it there once last year but due to my recession prone bank account and exhausting schedule, I can’t pamper myself like I used to. Being grown is tough but it’s a blessing. Would be great to show myself how much I need to relax with a mani/pedi at one of BK’s hottest polish salons. Crossing my ‘seriously in need’ fingers n toes!! Thanks!

  5. I deserve to get pretty because in three weeks Im starting second year as a teacher. Last year I taught 6th grade history and this year I’m teaching 9th grade physics! Yes it’s a huge jump but I want to start it looking right! Help a deserving teacher get pretty!!!

  6. Hi,

I am so excited about this giveaway. I live in North Carolina and I know that I won’t benefit using the gift card. But, I know someone who will. I have a beautiful sister name Jemara and she would absolutely love it . Jemara is a working wife of 2 beautiful daughters. She is always helping everyone out and doesn’t have enough time do all the pampering that she will like to do. I think this gift card will be so beneficial to her and it would actually make her day….

    Thanks
    her sis Angelica

  7. I love a New York experience! When I visit the energy of the city gets me ready for anything. I graduated this spring and I’m going back to school next month. I need one of those energizing trips to NYC to get me ready my hectic school/work/mom schedule. I would love to be picked for this give away, the salon looks like a great way to spend part of my trip.

  8. I would die for this gift certificate. I’m a mother of 2. My son turns 3 in October and back March I gave birth to my daughter who’s now going on 5 months. I’m just returning to work after maternity leave and the sleepless nights with the baby, he early morning with my toddler and crazy client meeting filled days are kicking my butt. I’m always on the go and it would be great to be able to take an hour just for myself. I used to be a nail junkie but since I barely have time to breathe, I’ve given up and just wear clear polish. I’d definitely make time to go to PB Please pick me!!!!!

  9. I love PBB! Been going there just as long as I’ve been living in NYC, we’re both celebrating our 5 years together! Even when my Mom comes in from Montreal, Canada, she has to make an appointment! Always great staff, always professional, always clean and Tricia is a GEM! I need to be pampered as I also have a 3yr old and life is hectic, but I think some of the other ladies need it more than me.

  10. I would like to win this for my mom. She’s the most hardworking person I know. She has been under a lot of pressure lately due to purchasing her first home while supporting her family and taking care of my ill & wheelchair-bound grandparents. She really needs a moment of R&R to herself away from everything. I wanted to do something like this for her but my finances have been limited. Please help me treat my mom. Thanks!

  11. I have a new lease on life! I recently found out that a lump that I had in my breast is not cancerous!!!!! It was weighing on me for a while but I keep it all inside as not to put too much negative energy into it all. Thank God. I just celebrated with family and a day getting glam at Polish Bar would match my excitement! Life is short and promised to no one, indeed. So live it up! thanks!

  12. I am nominating my sister, Dupe. In 2005, my mother passed away from cancer. A single parent she was, she left me and my sister, many bills we had and no guidance. Instead of leaving me behind, my older sister in her twenties at the time, she took me in, saved all her money found us an apartment and made it her mission to not only be a sister but a mother to me, I was only 15 at that tiime. Now i’m 22 and I don’t know where I would be without her, she has been my mom sister and bestfriend. Because of her I am 3 months away from graduating college, have an amazing internship and can say I made it through it all. She puts herself aside to help me bloom. She is amazing heaven sent and my angel.

She derseves this. Time to pamper herself and not me. :)

  13. I am not nominating myself for this giveaway, but my mother. She is a hard worker and has raised and still raising four beautiful kids. She has some problems with her health lately due to us always worrying her. STRESS. She has and still is with the help of my father putting me through school, and to be honest I feel so sorry sometimes because they are sacrificing a lot to put me through college, so this nice giveaway will be greatly appreciated because she deserves it.

  14. I would like to nominate my bi sis Sakinah for this giftcard. My sis is a mother of 3, a wife, cheerleading, coach, event planner on the side, and she still works a full time job. I’ve watched her grow from a struggling teen mom to a wife providing for her family. It is very rare for her to do things for herself. She is always pampering other people and this is a great opportunity to get pampered herself. Even with her asthma she’s always ripping and running from football practices and acting classes for her kids, and baking cakes for her friends. I literally have to bribe her sometimes just to get her to take time out for herself. Polish Bar Brooklyn is just what she needs to relax, relate, and release all the stress she endures. I’m hoping the break will help her to realize she needs to come first in her life.

  15. I would love to treat myself. I’m sure I’m doing better than someone in a third world country so I won’t complain about my problems lol. I will, however, say that I recently managed to learn to control stress and take better care of my body. I’ve never been the best at remaining stress free and I often took it out on my nails, but alas I’ve been a whole month without biting my nails. God bless yoga :)

  16. I would like to nominate myself for this gift card. I spent the last year stressed out to the point of over exhaustion to pass all my classes and graduate from college to have it blow up in my face. I really haven’t been taking care of myself appearance while and for once would like to be pampered. I feel as thought this would be step in the right direction to get back on track. I haven’t had a Mani/pedi in 4 years and I could use a pick me up after a year of hard work and tedium. A a girl who worked hard in school and is going into her last semester in college I would like to do something that helps me feel better about it by taking better care of myself.

  17. I would like to nominate myself for this giveaway. I’m currently working two jobs and a full time college student. I’m no pity-party girl so I’ll just say looking down at some fabulously done nails would make writing these essays and clocking in at work, a great mood lifter!

  18. If you’re squirmish do not read.
At the moment I’m helping out some family members by babysitting. Recently the baby had a case of diarrhea. It got so bad that he got a serious rash. Due to that he began wearing diapers (cloth). He’d go over 6 times. Cloth diapers are not suppose to be disposed (if you choose). Everytime he’d go I’d clean him, without wipes and wash his diaper with my bare hands. Wash away his discharge clean and hang them to dry. I know our grandparents did this and we have gotten spoiled with the disposable pampers. These hands have been through opp

And I know they need a little Love.
    Thanks for reading.

Sorry if I grossed anyone out.

  20. I actually want to apply to this for my mother who has no idea about this site lol. She hails from Brooklyn and has recently finished a divorce that has left her a house she can barely afford. I just wanted to do something for her that will make her feel beautiful.

  21. Although I dont have a major story to tell, or have an illness of some sort. I still feel im also elgilble to win. I feel every woman should feel beautiful, and when you feel it from the inside it makes you wanna put on a cute outfit, get a mani and pedi and strut. Also when we treat ourselves it gives us that extra boost of confidence we need. So i would love a mani and pedi from the Polish Bar. Yes something as simple as a manicure can make a woman feel good. I’ll take that lol

  22. I Love the Polish Bar!! Although I’ve never been I get the monthly email newsletter and I salivate at all the specials they have, including the Brown Sugar Mani/pedi. Its sounds amazing. Don’t want to give a sob story because everyone has their struggles, but when you have rent, tuition and a long list of other bills, spoiling yourself with a mani doesn’t always make the cut. My cuticles are screaming for help and the at home mani’s and the Korean lady who charges $6 just aint getting it.

  23. I would like to nominate my beautiful sister as she is in NEED of a great mani/pedi. She works for the Association for the Help of Retarded Children and takes pride in her work caring for adults diagnosed with autism. Everyone needs a break every one in a awhile but she deserves a break and does not have the financial means to treat herself to a great mani/pedi. I would treat her but in this economy, I watch my pennies closely so this summer we started having mani/pedi parties at our place but the results are even close to professional. Thanks for the contest Claire!

  24. I would like to nominate my mother. My mom is a hardworking mother of three and has been a loving wife for the past 37 years. She works 12 hour shifts in the night in the ICU unit a hospital. Additionally, she manages to make sure my dad’s food is prepared for when he gets in from work. She works so hard and never makes time to take care of herself. She is always thinking of others. My siblings and I love her dearly. I know she would be elated if she recieved the gift certificate. Due to financial responsibilities I know that she would never consider paying for the services provided at the Polish. I look forward to seeing her being pampered. I think that you should pick my mom because I can’t think of a better way for Polish Bar to celebrate 5 years of beauty than to give a gift certificate to a woman who is natural beautiful inside and out.

  25. I absolutely love all things pampering! Although I strive to keep my weekly mani/pedi appointment, I tend to get the same classic, yet boring thing – Essie Figi. I would love to branch out and try the latest nail trends that I often read and hear about. Thank you for this opportunity!!

  26. I deserve to win because I am college student getting ready for the fall semester. Not only am I a student but I’m also in foster care. It’s very difficult for children under ACS to gets funds. The little money I have goes toward my education. Winning this will mean the world to me. I love getting manicures and pedicures. Love feeling pretty everyday so I pray that I win. Thank you and have a blessed day!

  27. I nominate my Mother Denise Hamilton who is a single parent holding everything down. My mother has a heart of gold and adopted my two biological cousins as well. Unfortunately my mother has worked for the MTA and was recently let go with out a dime. My mom is currently un employed and is still holding down my 2 younger brothers and my two adopted cousins ( Paying rent, buying food) etc all with no income. This strong queen deserves to be pampered.

  28. Well, it’s very simple. I have an obsession with nails. I have a collection of Essie polishes that is unmatched by anyone I’ve ever met (the perks of having them as a client). I have an obsession with The Fashion Bomb. And a little bit of jealousy that flares up every time you post or tweet about Polish Bar Brooklyn. And it would make my whole summer :).

  29. Pick Me!

I recently received my JD from UConn Law and I’m in need of a fly professional manicure for my job interview with the USG on the 17th. I’m the first person to receive a college degree in my family, sad but true.
For the past 2 months I’ve been mentoring kids in the inner city of Bridgeport, CT and I must say it is so amazing to inspire children who have no hope. I’m grateful and blessed to have made it this far.
Good Luck to all of the contestants, we all deserve pampering from the PBB especially you Traci.

    Stay Inspired.

  30. Absolutely love this article! Booking my ticket to NY just to go see. I’m not entering to win ’cause I don’t really have a need, but I love supporting professional establishments run by women of color. Yay and thank goodness for sweet hands and feet :)

  31. I’m writing to first compliment this website because it keeps me locked in all day every day! I, too love Polish Bar. I used to go last year for my Brazilians (which they are great at as well). I stopped going because I had to help take care of my cousins from the earthquake that took place in Haiti, I was working and giving them as much as I could, as I knew besides the devastation they had went through, they were missing on many memories. The girls recently moved back to Haiti to live with their parents and I miss them a lot. As a result of helping raising a 10 and 15 year old, and being called into school meetings, my job wasn’t so understanding so I was terminated. By the grace of God, I finally got a great new opportunity at a new place which I start at the end of this month. I am a nurse and have always devoted to giving and helping others. So, it would be nice to finally get a nice reward. Funny enough, August 11, the day of the Polish Bar event, is my birthday! So I’d love to be a part of the festivities to celebrate my birthday and theirs! Thanks so much!

  32. I’m a struggling single who would love to win because things are tight . I haven’t been able to treat myself to even a $10 mani /pedi. I just want to regain some semblance of the person I was before my daughter was born.

  33. I deserve to win because I live near polish bar but can’t afford to go! I’d love to be pampered a bit.

  34. I NEED this because as a medical student I have spent the past 6 months wearing nothing but scrubs everyday (including weekends). As I scroll through fashionbombdaily admiring all the stylish clothes my sis’s are wearing, all I can do is sigh at the sad truth that I can’t dress up for work or try any of the new trends. But hey I figure, if my clothes can’t look nice at least my nails can! Please help me glam up my daily mint green attire w/ a splash of pop from Polish bar!!! You’d be supporting a future fashionista doctor ;)

  35. I had the ABSOLUTE WORST EXPERIENCE at the polish bar 3 weeks ago. I had a brown sugar manicure and green gals pedicure. The service quick and not 2 my satisfaction. these girls were in a rush 2 get 2 the next customer….i think u girls r better off going 2 DASHING DIVA than this trash ur promoting. U wont be happy remember Kitty B. said it 1st and if any of u would like 2 tell me otherwise hit me on Twitter @Kitty_lemon….#hatisall

  36. i’d like to nominate my mother, brenda. she has never gotten a pedicure or manicure and barely has time to even afford anything for herself. she has raised me and my brother as a single parent for 21 years and never has ever been treated to something for herself. she’s always running around helping her family but never helps herself. i want my mom to see the beauty she really is and finally be able to treat herself to something nice. It would be lovely if she could finally feel pretty and have a day that was all about her

  37. I would love to be blessed with the gift certificate to PBB! I’m moving from my beloved hometown of Brooklyn to Chicago at the end of the month to pursue a PhD in history at UChicago. And after a long hard summer of living on a tight budget, having to move back in with my parents to save on money, and working at a charter school to save up for my new start I would love a little pampering and a little glamour. It would be great to start my life in Chicago on a fab note.
All these ladies are super deserving and I’m excited to see who gets this amazing gift!

  38. i would like to nominate myself, i just came from Jamaica today and now im in NYC visiting my fam :) I would really love to experience something like this. Please pick me i love your fashion blog! not a day pass and i dnt read wats goin on and i learn so much. Keep up the good work Claire and your bombshell team :)<3

  39. I would like to nominate my mother Nesta because as a single mother she has been able to act like 2 parents a village for the past 18 years. I know that it must have been difficult a lot of the time because of how many extra curriculars i did during high school (debate, hs volleyball, club volleyball, student council just to name a few) because i know that for my whole life she has barely been able to catch a moment for herself without having to worry about me. My mother is the strongest woman that i will ever know and i feel that it is time that she takes care of herself instead of focusing all of her time on me. My mother sees her sacrifices as worth it because this fall i will be attending Cornell University for environmental engineering but i still feel like she needs an actual reward for all of the hard work that she has done over the years to guide me on the right path.

  40. I moved to NYC exactly 5 weeks ago. I up and left North Carolina to follow my dream. As you can imagine it was incredibly exhilarating, but also very scary. Since the move, I have a new outlook on life and a new reason to grind. It’s not easy…especially money wise, but I know that NYC is where I am suppose to be.

I love this city but I have been on a serious budget!! I hit the pavement everyday walking to class or searching for jobs. My feet and nails have totally been neglected. I have been grinding so hard that I bruised my sciatic nerve to the point where I could barely walk. It was THE single most painful thing I have ever experienced in my life thus far. After a week of being on bed rest and meds, I’m much better now and ready to get a fresh start again. I would greatly appreciate a gift certificate to the Polish Bar for some much needed R&R and to fix my busted feet lol! Thanks for this opportunity!

  41. I would love to win a manicure/pedicure. I’m a single, independent young woman just trying to follow my dreams of becoming a nutritionist. I have 2 jobs and a lot of times I don’t have the money to get things like a manicure/pedicure. You don’t understand how much this would mean to me! Thank you so much in advance!

  42. I would love to win this gift certificate for many reasons. I am young college student and I basically go to school all year round (yes I know it sounds weird). I take classes in the fall semester, winter session, spring semester and both of my summer sessions so I have no time for myself. Along with going to school all year round I have two jobs. I get my nails done only for special occasions so maybe like three times a year so this gift certificate would mean so much to me. I always walk by their location in Clinton Hill and I have never been in there yet. Please pick me, thanks!!

  43. First off! i must say! LOVe this freakn site! Second off .Let me tell you why i deserve this gift certificate :)
I am a fulltime student and will be graduating from college in the Spring after four long years of dedication and hard work! MAjoring in English and minoring in Political Science with a 3.5 GPA in my Major. I am also a part-time worker. In the long run, I know all this will pay off as im finally trying to wrap things up and get an intern as an assistant to a editor of a fashion mag or continue writing since thats my passion! I love love love fashion and keep up with all of the latest news while balancing work and my homework. Kudos to all the kids getting a valuable education! i would adore this certificate because im young and love to do my nails. It would be a breath of fresh air and a day with absolutely NO STRESS.. Just pretty polish :)

  44. I would love an amazing PBB Mani/ Pedi because on August 4th 2011 I recieved my Bachelors in HealthCare Managment. This has been a FAB 4 years and I thank the Lord I made it through with more wisdom and poise then when I entered. I would LOVE this experience to release some much needed stress and celebrate the road ahead.

  45. Hi Claire and friends # fashion bomb! I’d like to win the gift certificate to Polish Bar Brooklyn because i’ve had the worst month ever and would ike to be pampered. I got hit by a car a few weeks ago and although im back to work ( thank GOD i only sprained my knee) its been one problem to another from my disability not kicking in, problems with the police department (and i’m the one who got hit) and being on leave and not getting paid. Trust me when i say if anyone needs a bit of a break it me : )

  46. I deserve to win because I am a broke college student majoring in journalism and media with a broken lap top. I’ve been saving up for a new lap top, and I can’t even afford to buy a bottle of OPI…

  47. I love, love your blog ,I would really love this opportunity to pamper myself . I am Full time dental assistant and part-time law student…. I also live with my lovely grandmother and take care of her as well, I will do anything for her….I will take care of her before i take care of myself….. So if i can get this oppurunity to go to the polish bar it will mean the world to me…. Thanks
