Hot! or Hmm…: BET Honors and The Golden Globes

Hey Fashion Bombers!

Vuitton here to bring you the fashion rundown of this weekend’s past events.  The stars came out for BET Honors and the Golden Globes, and while some came to dazzle, others? Not so much.

Let’s take a look!

First up is Mary J. Blige

The fit of this black, asymmetrical single-sleeve dress is stunning on her, but I can’t help but wonder “hmm” when I see that train…it just sits there. She could have done more in the accessories department as well…

Next up is Taraji P. Henson

While I absolutely adore the color of the dress against her gorgeous skin, there are few things that ruin a dress…and one is an ill fitted bust.  Taraji’s usually en pointe with these things.  Hmm…I guess there’s a first time for everything!

And here’s Queen Latifah:

Donning a classic LBD with peep-toe pumps, Queen Latifah pulls the look off without looking boring.  Lovely, Miss Latifah!  Hot!

Gabrielle Union stunted as well on the red carpet…

Dressed in a nude colored gown with silver detailing, this dress hugs her curves seamlessly.  While her hair left me scratching my head, I must say that this is a step in a new direction from her Herve Leger of seasons’ past.  Keep it up, Gabby!  You look hot!

Mya looked ravishing in red…

With ruching around the bust and jeweled details, Mya obviously came to show and prove.  I definitely could have done without the necklace, but all in all, a hot look for Mya.  Maybe we should have a talk about those tan lines, though, hmm…

Now, on to the gentlemen of the evening.

Ne-Yo was spotted at the event looking dapper:

Although we left nerd glasses in ’09, he pulls the bespectacled look off well.  I wouldn’t have worn a scarf with the blazer, since the jacket already has black piping around the lapel, but all in all, he pulled it together.  Hot look for the crooner!

Ryan Leslie came through as well…

While the suit and shoes are FIRE, *sigh*…we need to talk about those Rihanna backup dancer fingerless leather gloves.  It just seemed as though he tried a little too hard.  Hmm…sometimes less is more, Ryan!

Next up is Honoree, Sean “Diddy” Combs:

But before we give you the rundown on him, can we have a moment of silence for the ensemble Mama Combs wore?  She and Lil Kim must get two-for-one deals on pointy-toed boots.  Now…on to Diddy.  One word…swagger times a hundred, thousand trillion.  Okay, that was six words, but cut me some slack!  Diddy rarely does wrong on a red carpet.  Fellas, THIS is where the note taking for the new year begins.  From the shades to the shirt to everything else.  Hot!

And lastly, Trey Songz:

I love the contrast in color and texture between his blazer and his pants.  You don’t always have to be matchy-matchy.  Trey Songz rarely hits a red carpet without giving us some “wow” factor.  Always perfectly tailored.  Hot!

And now on to The Golden Globes!

Despite the rainy day, the celebs came out for the star laced event.

Starting things off was Halle Berry

While all of us are convinced that Ms. Berry has, indeed, found the fountain of youth, she hasn’t found the pool of dresses.  The silhouette is beautiful, no question, but this Kaufman Franco dress was a very disappointing choice for Halle.  Hmm…

Next up is British singing sensation, Leona Lewis:

All we had to do was keep the faith.  Leona looked lovely in her Roberto Cavalli purple strapless gown and diamond accessories.  This is quite the redemption for her New Years get-up!  I love how she kept her hair, makeup, and jewelry simple.  She pulled off an understated look, but managed to look glamorous at the same time.  Hot, Leona!

The Cannons were also there, gracing us with their omnipresence.

Mrs. Cannon donned an Herve Leger number, and looked…regular.  Sure, her assets defied gravity, but showing cleavage all the time becomes a little “one trick pony.”  Hmm…and Mr. Cannon just missed the mark because of his ill-tailored trousers.  A slimmer cut would’ve done him best, since he’s on the tall side.

Golden Globe winner Mo’Nique looked amazing accepting her award last night:

Hair, makeup, and this olive colored, strapless Reem Acra gown…gorgeous.  The color works well with her skin tone, and the draping flatters her figure.  Surprisingly, the color doesn’t subdue her vivacious spirit.  Congrats, Mo’Nique!

Of course, we saved the best for last:

Zoe Saldana wins the race in this beautiful wine colored strapless Louis Vuitton tiered gown.  Since she’s been hitting the red carpet, she’s not been doing any wrong in our eyes.  Hot!

Who was your fave?
