• Get the Look: Sanaa Lathan’s Makeup and Shiny Tresses at the 45th NAACP Announcements

While announcing the nominees for the 45th NAACP Image Awards, actress Sanaa Lathan dazzled in a deep berry red lip and super shiny tresses.

Here’s how to get her look:

The makeup is simple and can be done in less than 10 minutes–perfect for the girl who wants to look pulled together but doesn’t have a lot of time. Plus the colors used work on every skin tone.

    1. Apply foundation and finishing powder if needed. Try Black Opal Foundation Stick only where you need it, blend, and then set with Black Opal Deluxe Finishing Powder or for oily skin try Black Opal Invisible Oil Blocking Loose Powder.

    2. Open up the eyes with a few coats of a mascara like Maybelline False Lashes.

    3. Dust a warm rose blush like Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Beg on the cheeks.

    4. Apply a deep berry red with shine lip color to the lips like MAC Kissable Lipcolour in Love Peck (see swatches of it on dark skin here).

To get her hair, next time you’re at the salon, ask your stylist for a soft layered cut with shorter layers to frame your face and longer ones below your shoulders. A great cut is the foundation to having great hair. Plus it cuts prep time down significantly.

To get shiny hair like Sanaa’s, I suggest washing the hair and deep conditioning it with a treatment like PhytoSpecific Vital Force Creme Bath which conditions and moisturizes hair and gives it shine like no other.

After rinsing out your deep conditoner, apply a touch of the Original Moroccanoil Treatment (www.moroccanoil.com for locations). Not only does this add shine, but it also helps speed up the hair drying process. If you’re doing your hair at home, keep it healthier by letting it air dry. A wet wrap works great because if you can do it before bedtime, your hair (with the help of Moroccanoil) will be dry by morning. Plus the hair has a good amount of bounce and sleekness to it once you unwrap your dried hair.

To style apply a heat protector like Tresemme Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray then using either a ceramic flat iron or ceramic curling iron, work through sections of the hair to get your desired amount of loose curls/waves. Finish with a few more shine producing sprays of Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray.
