In 1989 Beverly Peele was one of the first black models on the cover of the now defunct Mademoiselle Magazine.

After she started modeling in 1987, Peele appeared on more than 250 magazine covers including Elle, Vogue, and Cosmopolitan. The California native did runway work for Chanel and Comme des Garçons and appeared in ad campaigns for Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan, and Versace.

  1. I remember her from my tween and teen years! I loved keeping up with her, Tyra, Naomi, Iman, and Veronica in the late 80’s and early 90’s. It meant alot to a young black girl to see women who looked like me in the high fashion mags not just rapper’s videos. I wish my neice who is 11 now could say the same.
