If Lil Wayne turns up to perform a set for you,  you better turn up. That’s the lesson attendees of the Philipp Plein show learned this week at Milan Men’s Fashion Week.

Known for combining a rocker aesthetic with a street-minded look, Philipp Plein routinely turns his runway shows into full out performances. Fire, motorcycles and more have all been used to pump up the volume in the past. This season, the designer tapped rapper Lil Wayne to perform. The problem: his audience. Reportedly, a few minutes into his set, due to a lackluster response from the crowd, Weezy threw his mic and walked off stage. Prior to that, he was met with blank stares after coming out and no one would put their hands up when he tried to hype the crowd. An editor for London’s Financial Times described the incident in his article.

And while we can certainly empathize with how crazy fashion month gets, one would think they could muster up some sort of response for the internationally recognized artist.

He got a much better response at the after party.
