30-year old Wu will become responsible for all of the creative direction for both the ready-to-wear and accessories collections, overseeing his team at the brand’s headquarters in Metzingen, Germany, as well as opening a design studio in NYC.
Wu’s eponymous label is known for its femininity and elegance, thus he hopes to bring that edge to BOSS, playing on the brand’s longstanding history in menswear: “I have long been a fan of HUGO BOSS’ vast tradition and lineage in extraordinary tailoring. With the state-of-the-art facilities that are unique to the HUGO BOSS design labs, I plan to develop a strong, feminine womenswear collection that reciprocates the brand’s authority in menswear.”
Everything Jason Wu touches turns to gold, thus I cannot wait to see what he does at BOSS. I’m an avid fan of both brands and think this collaborative effort will take BOSS womenswear to an entirely new level, as well as giving it more visibility on the global stage.
Wu’s first BOSS Womenswear Collection will debut in New York for the Pre-Fall 2014 season. His first runway show for the brand will be staged during New York Fall/Winter Fashion Week in February 2014, so stay tuned.
