Fashion Discussion: Can Curvaceous Corporate Divas Get Away with Pencil Skirts?

In an e-mail titled, “Advice” longtime reader Adriana asks, “I’ve asked my friends this question and get mixed answers. Is it appropriate to wear a pencil or bodycon skirt to work if you have a bubble butt?”

“… I love the way it looks but I’m not sure if it’s on the border line of looking inappropriate (like I’m going to a party).”
Ah, why did I find this question hilarious? At any rate, my first reaction is that it’s probably best not to wear a close fit bodycon skirt, as it can come off too hot for the office!

A pencil skirt can probably get a slight pass, depending on fit (if it doesn’t hug your curves too closely). If you feel self conscious about your derriere yet still want to rock a pencil skirt, I’d suggest opting for a longer shirt, jacket, or cardigan that slightly conceals your curves:

If that doesn’t work for you, then A-line or slightly flared skirts work fabulously for any shape.

Those are my two cents.
What do you guys think?
