  1. Love it! My only gripe is that your face is devoid of makeup in many of the pics, but I still love your style. You look GOOD.

You look a lot better than some others on here getting mad praise for looking average being called “Bombshells”, that’s for sure.

  2. Cute & simple…I actually love that she isn’t wearing tons of makeup to cover up that beautiful face :)

  3. I love makeup but im confused why its not ok for her not to wear any? Her skin is lovely she can do that.

  4. Very very cute the poses are kinda hilarious but the style is very nice and youthful thumbs up.

  5. What’s wrong with no or light makeup? Shoot, most days I just wear mascara and lip gloss…the only time I wear more is for a night out…and that just includes powder. I think it’s refreshing. I know women today wear a mask of layers, I get it…but don’t get it. lol

Her style is nice, nothing uber special…but I do love many of the prints shown. Very sweet looking girl.

  6. To everyone saying what’s wrong with not wearing any makeup? Nothing is wrong with it, but she’s submitting pictures to be a Fashion BOMBSHELL. “Makeup” is part of the Bombshell look, as well as hair.

You can’t have one without the other two. It doesn’t work. At least not to ME.

  7. Such a beauty! I love the style..and how she mixes and matches pieces.

Janice you must not be a natural beauty if you’re calling for makeup in order to be considered a bombshell.
When you have flawless pigmentation as Zona there is no need for much else.

  8. @Janice

I tend to disagree. Yes, I will agree that hair will and can pull a look together, but I don’t think makeup has anything to do with being a Bombshell. There are many celebs that have been caught fresh-faced wearing little to no-makeup and that has not stopped critics from recognizing their ‘style’ (Solange, Joy Bryant, Angela Simmons, Beyonce (in her off times), Rihanna, etc). Sometimes I feel that people try too hard and end up looking like a clown, but then you have those whose faces are so refreshingly beautiful, they have not need to cake it on.

But hey, that’s just my opinion.

My mother has never worn makeup in her life (except lipstick) and that woman can wow a crowd when she steps out of a door. But hey…we are all entitled to our opinion.

  9. What a nice friend to have. I’ll assume that’s him in the all black everything photo. All age-appropriate and put together: pretty girl, ok style.

Fav Fit: last one as the take on peplum is nice (assuming it is, in fact, asymmetrical and pleated)

Extra points for getting that “Leaning Leon” lean going full throttle :)

  10. Hey everyone, I’m overjoyed by just being here. I’ve never taken myself seriously enough to even nominate myself as a bombshell. I don’t own any designer wear, I just put together descent affordable stuff . I try what I can on a journalist budget in young South Africa lol. Thank you Claire and girls. I do wear makeup actually, but it’s very minimal. Thanks again

  11. Some make-up enhancement is in order for sure. It completes the look. Caked on, etc.? Well that’s always too much. It takes some effort to look effortless.
    She’s a cutie pie!

  12. @Andrea, just because I feel someone who submits pictures to be a Fashion Bombshell should throw on some makeup means that I’m not a “natural beauty”, then so be it then.

    Will. Not. Argue.

I already gave her the Bombshell vote, but I still feel the way I do about makeup when submitting FASHION pics.

@Soul Touch, my thing is only when submitting pics to be a FASHION BOMBSHELL. I’m not talking about walking to the supermarket or other activities.

And I know everyone would like to “believe” they look “beautiful” with no makeup, but the true fact of the matter is that most people over 25 really don’t. At least not in photos. A little lipstick or blush never hurt anyone.

  13. @Zona, you look beautiful. I do see a nice shimmer lipstick in the photo with the black skirt and shimmer top and it really brings out your pretty features. I voted you Bombshell, because everything is put together well. Thanks for submitting.

  14. @Janice

    …but she is wearing lipstick.

    Blush!?! lol

Oh well, matter of opinion. I am 34 years old and I get complimented all the time, by men (especially men), women, white, black, old or young. In fact, many people are surprised that I don’t have concealor, foundation and such on…because I have always taken care of my skin, you could never tell otherwise. The only thing I can’t live without is mascara…I have long full lashes, but they are quite light.

But hey…I was not aware that makeup = fashion and in turn you can not be fashionable without makeup. But I can respect your opinion.

  15. But wait…what if your fashion statement is natural, earthy, hippy, afro-centric goddess…is it acceptable then?

Not to put you on the spot, just inquiring…

  16. @Soul Touch, it’s only important to ME when submitting photos to be a Fashion Bombshell or anything on that level. I only see lipstick in a couple of photos, but like I said, I still gave her the Bombshell vote, because I really do dig her style. It’s not too much.

And to clarify, you’re probably beautiful in person, but many times that beauty won’t be picked up by the camera as effortlessly as when wearing makeup. Again, this is MY personal opinion and it doesn’t have to be a full face either. If you have great skin, then powder will do perfectly, especially in the T-zone areas.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++

LOL! I missed this one. Again, it’s only when SUBMITTING PHOTOS to be a Fashion Bombshell, but there’s still nothing wrong with wearing “earthy” makeup colors to go with your look either. I’m not saying to wear eyeshadow, but definitely some lipstick/gloss and a bit of color on the cheek, along with black eyeliner on the top lip and mascara to bring out the eyelashes or even some “subtle” false eyelashes that look “normal” for the street not the stage.

  18. Funny how some people say this is so 2 years ago. Some pics were taken in ’11 and ’12! You ladies are good huh :D… Anyone on IG so we can share some makeup tips? I’m zona_za there.

  19. No bombshell here. Nice try though…but the style feels outdated and cheap. Maybe next time… NEXT—>

  20. @Janice

Gotcha and I appreciate your response, I have a better idea where you’re coming from… it certainly understandable and valid.

  21. Not sure if this is a valid point. But I just wanna add my 2cents. Most of us normal everyday south africans actually go for the minimal look. Which is lipstick\gloss, eyeliner and a bit of powder. Anyway back to the lady of the day I voted hits and misses.

  22. Coming from a person who loves makeup and loves wearing it, I don’t see what the problem is with her not wearing any in her photos. Granted that when done right makeup looks beautiful in photos. But, who thinks to themself “let me make sure I put on some makeup today because I may want to submit this look to The Fashion Bomb?” Putting too much thought into it. Plus, she didn’t even submit herself. Her best friend submitted her.

  23. Luv it!!! I luv pretty black girls with “ethnic” features!!! you dont have to be a mixed breed or have a white girls features to be a 10!!!! luv it, luv it, luv it!

    excuse my tangent, hmph

  27. I’m not impressed! NEXT

I agree with Gigi. Also, just because someone disagrees doesn’t mean they’re a hater! Smh

  28. I agree with Gigi. No bombshell here. NEXT

(Waits for bandwagon friends to retaliate)

  29. Proudly South African… I’m SA and I love makeup. Ur style is diff from mine. But hey our country is a diverse place and I think u look gorge!!!

  30. Zona dear your style is just that. YOUR STYLE. I love it keep dressing the way you want to because at the end of the day when you look in the mirror you have no one to please but yourself. Kudo’s to you doll, young, fresh, and fly.

  31. Not true i submitted my pics to fashion bomb two years ago with no makeup and just two different lip glosses and got 97 of the vote. It really is the condition and how smooth and clear your face is. She has average style to me.

  32. I agree with fomer fashionbomb….makeup is not everything…Janice is entitled.to her opinon thats all it is…you could be a fashionbomber…its all about style and.if it look put togethet well

  33. B* please! Don’t know why americans are against the posing!!! Geez, some comments have nothing to do with this gurl but rather a dislike for africa. Zona u rock girl! Angeke yoh!

  34. The comments here really mean you’re a Bombshell! You know in Xhosa (One of the many languages we have in SA) we have a saying that goes like Kungaqhuma kubasiwe its on english too now so Where there’s smoke there’s fire and for a Journalist in SA? doll you’re a girl on fire! My vote is yours baba noba bathini.

  35. Lol @ yeah right. This chick is most definitely not a bombshell. She’s not the worst ever but I’d put her just below the average girl I see on the street. Has nothing to do with her being african. Two of the flyest girls I know are Nigerian and they put this girl to shame.

When you submit pics, you should expect to be judged. People on the site give credit where credit is due but are also quick to call out what’s whack.

  36. Seems like you do u everyday..and it looks cute n u look confident…half the fun of taking pics is to “strike a pose”….make up as a requirement…a polished weave? Bullish…heauxs kill me and need to learn to love themselves and shut da phuck up..stating my truth…
Its nice u have a friend to big u up like that…stay humble…take yourself a lil more serious cuz you are HOt…and the haterz are definitely on deck…natural beauty=bombshell…i love your print dress n sandals

  37. Why are so many damn women on here so hateful and ignorant. Like if you don’t like it fine but being rude to people you don’t know is what’s really BASIC. And her friend submitted her she didn’t submit herself. And I don’t think when you say you don’t like something you a hater but when you nasty, hide behind a computer screen refusing to show your own style talking junk than yes you are a hater.

  38. @her friend submitted her, what’s wrong with a “polished weave”?

Whether it’s a weave, wig or your own hair, shouldn’t it be “polished” and “put together” when submitting pics to be a bombshell?

I don’t have a problem with her hair like the others, but you sound ridiculous. The girl is beautiful, so she should represent to the FULLEST when either she or someone else is submitting her pics for Fashion Bombshell status.

I gave her Bombshell, because even if her look is “two years” ago, two months ago or two days ago, she’s still rockin’ it well. I don’t think her fashion look is “average” at all, but that’s ME.

There’s another so-call “bombshell” getting all these crazy accolades for bombshell status and I’m sitting here like “Really??” Chick looks basic as hell to me, but I realize she has “fans”, so I don’t get too detailed about it.

  39. WoW! a bunch of meanies SOME of ya’ll are. Zona sthandwa sam, you look good. Love the diff prints, and colours. And, its not like you’re trying to be Rihanna here, or her wanna-be’s. You have your own unique style, where you mix and match whichever thrift shop items you have. Subahoya aba. Ba busy on the net, ngathi abana bomi. I’ll follow you on IG now :-)
