We’re closing out the week with Toni from Chicago:

She writes, “My style motto: wear what makes me feel beautiful and well put together.”

” I wear what best suits my body type and enhances my best features, which I feel are my legs.”

” I love dresses and skirts and love the womanly sex-appeal of a great fitted dress or skirt.”

“…I would describe my personal style as versitile, clean-cut…”

“… comfortable and colorful.”

I started my blog www.prettydarkgirlstyle.blogspot.com….”

“… as a way to capture my daily outfits and display my love for fashion.”

Cute and colorful! I love it. My favorite might be your purple and green outfit.
What say you, boos?

  1. I like the dressess..but i must say I hate! <<strong word..I dislike it when ppl wear the red or yellow necklace and earrings.

  2. I see she’s big on color blocking and accessories…less is more. Okay style for the most part.

  3. I’m loving her use of color. Her looks definitely seem versatile and I bet she gets great mileage. She’s got great legs and cute shoes!

  4. Very trendy (maybe too trendy) and kinda cute. But some of her shoes cheapen the outfits.

  5. trendy–or maybe she was dressing like this way before the trend
i don’t think her shoes lessen her look
    great use of color

idk how yesterdays bombshell had everyone creaming yet this girl is a maybe. please.

  6. @ V if it makes you feel any better I really didn’t like the bomshell yesterday ;-)

  7. I love Toni! She has great style and I look forward to her fab outfit post on her blog everyday! Shes reppin hard for the dark girls! Werk it boo!

  8. She has cute outfits, but for some reason, they seem ‘young.’ She looks like she’s 38, so why is she submitting her pictures to a blog and why does everything look so juvenile?
Hate the name of her blog, why can’t dark girls be pretty?
And @V black girls tend to suffer from self hate issues. A non black girl with aiight style will always trump a dark skinned girl with decent style. Slave mentality.

  9. Hey Toni girl! I follow her blog and think she has a knack for incorporating lovely/bold colors into her wardrobe. I think she has great style and I’d say my fav out of these looks would have to be the pink and green color block look and the polka dot dress is fab too!

  10. her shoe game is ok but i agree with BRINKS this is an old woman and she is trying hard to be on trend. im not feeling her and the WIG why why why why why why why why why the chinese store mannequin wig? why are we stil doing this . next

  11. O like the green & purple. The floral pants looked couldve been a hit minus blazer & earrings. a red lip wouldve been the best red accessory. I like her though.

  12. I love Toni’s style……I don’t think fashion has anything to do with age and I never get the vibe that she’s trying to be “young”. When I get in my 30s and 40s I won’t let age dictate my fashion as long as I’m not still trying to rock bodycon dresses and clubgear.

  13. Gosh, I am tad discouraged to comment, and my intentions are not to throw shade or to be mean …BUT this hood chic, ultra trendy and mix of every look from 2000-2012. She is working with polka dots, color blocking, floral, glitter (if her leopard shiny clogs count) and I am SEVERLY disappointed with every look. Furthermore, the way her clothes fit … my Love undergarment would not hurt (EVERYONE IS WEARING IT). I say this all to say Claire Darling … why end this week this way :(

  14. I think it takes courage for anyone to submit to being a fashionbomb. I also think sometimes we comments on a persons body, hair, skin tone more then the actual fashion. We is she considered a “hood chick” as someone commented. Anyway just a thought. I think her style is cool just a little over accessorized.

  15. Some hits and misses. OT: I detest the name of her blog and this is coming from a fellow darkskin woman. The name implies that it is exceptional for a darkskin woman to be pretty. Its silly. If a light skin chick had a blog with a title that relates to her complexion, most woman, particularly dark skin woman, would be up and arms. Your complexion has nothing to do with your fashion. If we ALL stop making complexion a factor, we all would be better off.

  16. Her looks arent juvenile…really? I dont love the wig, but whatevs…

but my beef is with ya’ll saying she old at 38….really? I am so offended…

Mama you look great…not afraid of color and do you. Headed to your blog…

  17. I sometimes comment on hair as it is a big part of style. So is makeup. If not stylist would not put so much energy into planning those looks for fashion shows and photo shoots. With that said…

This particular hairstyle overpowers her face. Its the first thing you see when you look at her. Its too much. I like everything but the floral pant and green pant looks. She is definitely a bombshell though. Heading over to her blog.

  18. @ Brinks

Girl…please sit down, lol. There have been plenty of African-American Bombshells (and celebrities) up here that have gotten rave reviews. And for the Bombshell yesterday—looking back at her outfits, they were clean, subdued, and had a nice pop of color to them. Her looks did NOT look forced, and she didn’t over accessorize, which seems to be one of the issues with this lady. So please spare us the “Black women hate themselves” speech. Seriously!

Now back to the Bombshell at hand, lol. The looks are cute, but I think editing would go A LONG WAY. And it would be nice to switch up the hairstyle. (Yesterday’s bombshell should have done the same thing too).

  19. i was a bit torn initially but near the end i said oh ok now thats it…she has some nice pieces and a variety of shoes!!! heading to check the blog

  20. Why can’t older women be fashionistas?? I’m 48 and my style has evolved beautifully. Women of all ages like what I rock. Some young women cannot see past their noses. Open your mind and see true fashion and style is ageless and timeless just look at Beverly Johnson and Iman.

  21. Why even marginalize the Fashion Bombshells by comparing them to each other? Everybody brings something to the table in their own way. I’m disappointed that the comments are going back to being petty and irrelevant. I think her hair looks fine. When it comes to the looks, I always feel like whether one pulls it off depends on the styling. I’m not a fan of matching accessories, but her use of color is awesome.

  22. I like all her looks, but it doesn’t seem natural looking or effortless just trendy and forced.

  23. If everybody hated yesterday’s bombshell then the argument would be “Black women are haters.” But since everybody loved her Black women are “self haters.” Chile you can’t win on the fashion bomb daily!

  24. I hate the wig. The looks are not good. I’m bored and what is her style?

TIGHT JEANS, SMALL JACKETS AND T-SHIRTS? NOT HAPPY

  25. LOVE THE STYLES! Representing the MIDWEST! Not one TRASHY, HALF NAKED LOOK! Clean, Confident, Classy! That’s what a Man wants to see! Everyone hating needs to GROW UP! Trippin’ on what… the age she looks?? REALLY! Lookin’ like somebody’s Momma FOR REAL! It’s called CRITIQUING…NOT BASHING! Put your pics up and lets see what you got! Sorry about the immaturity on your website Claire; We need to celebrate each other more than try to tear each other down! I know somebody aint liking me right now, but it’s all good!

  26. i don’t think the wig is that bad? i’ve seen a lot worse on here. I don’t like the looks however. way too matchy matchy for my taste. kind of childish.

  27. WOW…Going hard and saying she is OLD..She’s not even forty. lol anywho…she has some hits and misses…but i just dont like that wig on her…maybe thats whats making her look “OLDER”.

  28. NO! I’m sorry but this is a poor reputation of my city. This fashion by no means represents the fashion sense of Chicago fashionistas.*

  29. I feel like the tight pants are what is throwing her style off. Every look with pants I disliked and when I looked again it was because the pants are way too tight. If she were to try a different cut of pant maybe she wouldn’t look like she was trying to dress “younger” as some have pointed out. Like all the dresses. Hits and misses for me. Sorry

  30. I LOVE EVERYTHING! Especially those floral pants with the black background, does anyone know where I could find a pair?

  31. @ REGINA

No one said older women couldn’t be fashionistas. Heck, you named some great examples of women who are very stylish and are over 30/40. And I’d like to add Jennifer Lopez and Garcelle Beauvais to that list (just to name a few).

Now with those names mentioned, you do not see them wearing matching (what looks like) plastic earrings and bangles. That’s what middle/high school girls wear.

  32. Omg I have had enough of the wig comments! Some people wear wigs because they HAVE to, like women who suffer from alopecia. So think before u start judging others on their hair. Besides, shouldn’t you be focusing on her outfits?! Anyway, I agree with Bella, her outfits are too matchy matchy but she has decent style. Wouldn’t call her a bombshell tho.

  33. Im just going to comment on the ‘floral’ pants from H&M. I have been seeing these all over the blog and styled many different ways!!!
Im starting to regret not buying a pair!!! Definetly a versatile piece for all ages and styleistas…

  34. @Lauren
I disagree, your hair completes the outfit. The reasons you named for wearing wigs are definitely justifiable but it does not excuse bad weaves and wigs when there are better weave and wigs for one to wear. Thank God this isn’t your website you don’t get to dictate our opinions.

  35. Thanks Claire for the opportunity to be featured in your site. Appreciate all the comments positive or negative. Wishing you all a blessed weekend.

    Toni

  36. @ shelley THANK YOU she grew older but her style didnt those are perfect examples of stylish older womenwho dont look like they are doing the most to be young again. this woman is old because her style makes her look old plain and simple. @lauren ok granted some people do have to wear wigs but they dont have to wear cheap wrecks like this! CLAIRE PLEASE LETS GET SOME FASHIONABLE OLD BOMBSHELLS LIKE 30-40 cuz this is a GRENADE #the end

  37. ummm the wig tho?…*moving on* Everyone hav their own personal style…THATS WHY ITS PERSONAL. Some people are blessed with “taste” and some are jus blessed with “tact”. She looks….confident! And thats all that matters

  38. Love that she’s not afraid of color. I like her green & purple shoes. I fell in love with those green shoes early in the fall & didn’t buy them at the time. Went back to get them & they were so gone. I was very re-miss so I say good pick with those.

  39. FORCED! it just doesnt seem orginial to me. None of her pieces made me go I HAVE TO GET THAT. It was like going through a catalog.

  40. WOW ALL THE NEGATIVITY IS NOT NEEDED LIKE SERIOUSLY!!!!

IT SEEMS LIKE YOU GUYS ONLY WANT TO SEE INDIVIDUALS WITH THE SAME STYLE, CLAIRE CLEARLY CHOOSES DIFFERENT BOMBSHELLS FOR A REASON, THEIR STYLE IS DIFFERENT AND IT SHOWCASES THEIR PERSONALITY. CLAIRE I REALLY DO NOT KNOW HOW YOU DO IT! SOME OF THESE SIMPLE MINDED COMMENTS ARE BEYOND HURTFUL, YOUNG OR OLD YOU PEOPLE NEVER HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY.

  41. but honestly her outfits blows the girl from yesterday out of the water…I can’t believe ya’ll were drooling over that girl…

  42. She’s a beautiful woman and I like her clothes but they are just a *tad* too small, save for the red color block dress.

As for the hair, I am extremely biased because I’m generally not a fan ultra straight hair on Black women. Sometimes it works, but I like to see women with their own hair.

  43. I love Toni’s blog. She’s very confident and wears her clothes well. She’s also a lovely person, and has BOMB legs! Work it Toni!

  44. She’s got some great pieces…but something’s off. I can’t put my finger on it. Going to browse her blog.:)

  45. I wish the kids on this site would fall the fuck back with these age comments. Every day somebody sippin on similac has something to say about someone else over 21 dressing too “young”. If you can rock a mini at 90, then do you. If not, then rock your moo moo and shut the hell up

  46. Yes the hair looks bad, it could be better. it looks really fake and 80’s like. i also have to agree the use of color is too much, yes i also call it hood chic as somebody has mentioned.I agree she also needs sophisticated clothes for her age and right use of color, a lot of college friends dress like this and for her age she should elvove and grow and move from hood chic, to effortless sexy chic.if someone ask me where do you think this women is going , i will say definately to the Hood.

  47. i thougth you are suppose to save the best for last:( i wish allie would have been todays bombshell she was so chic and stylish not feeling todays bombshell claire sorry

  48. A bit too matchy matchy for my liking but she has great pieces! The clothes ftt her well and you can tell she feels great in them!! Love it!

  49. I love the color-blocking outfit. The mint colored blazer and pink pants are very cute and very current….ish. I would’ve chosen a yellow or royal blue top instead though. I think the other oufits were not that inspiring. However, I did enjoy this post. Thanks :)

  50. I think she looks very cute and not trendy just pull together. I’m sorry about it looking a bit young because I don’t get that one. It kills me when we as women can find the most negative things to say about each other but when JLO, Vivica Fox,Halle Berry wears a dress up their “hello kitty” it’s hot and all of them are old it’s ok!!! Ladies we need to look at the woman in the mirror and say girl you trippin and chances are you might be a hater!!! stopit.com

  51. I like a lot of her looks,my favorite is the mint jacket and pnk pant with green shoes. I. Think her accessories are a bit too plastic. I think gold and silver are a bit more classic for the over 35set! Her hair is not horrid, but she could use some veriety.the swoop is dated, sure but I think that she could have worn a lacefront like brandy and y’all would still come for her! My only issue is the name of her blog, as a dark woman. It’s offensive !I wouldn’t visit simply BC the name is off putting!

  52. I like the pieces.
The accessories cheapen her looks. The wig has character.
The looks are trendy. Her personal style seems lost in all the trend though. I can see what everyone is saying about the looks not being age appropriate.

  53. Toni’s looks are ok, a tad match-matchy for my rates however. I think she could also stand to size up on her pants for a more flattering fit and the wig, well…..

(@Brinks, I completely agree re: yesterday’s Fashionbomb! She was average at best yet everyone was up in arms as if she were the second coming. If it were anyone else, the fact that she did absolutely nothing w/her hair/makeup would have been just one of many criticisms…)

  54. I like Toni’s pants from h&m!! And yesterday’s bombshell was amazing!! She did her thing not sure why people are starting to hate on her. Nothing was overdone, and she had great hair! Focus on the clothes!!! But anyways back to Toni she did her thing. Every bombshell has their own style. They can’t all look alike!

  55. Let’s be honest here people (especially the folks that follow her blog)…she does have some good days and some not so good days. We all can see she wears her pants a size too small, and some (not all) of her shoes are CHEAP looking; AND the plastic/matching jewelry is soo ninth grade.
While I do agree that she does have great style, she just needs to enhance it with a few slight adjustments.
    (1) Find out why pants/jeans style compliments her shape (to lose the muffin top affect)
    (2) Change up her hair/wig/weave style OR try out other styles
    (3) Invest in some timeless jewelry pieces

  56. Damn, y’all need to lay off her. Toni looks nice. i think its nice that regardless of her age(whatever it may be) she is conscious of her style and takes care of herself. constructive criticism should be far from tearing someone down.its a wonder women still send stuff in with the things some ladies have to say about previous entries.

  57. The negative comments on fashionbomb always be killin me softly..not even constructive criticism..which we all can use..but flat out rude smh..

  58. Love it Toni! Good job on the blog and being a confident representation of us Chi Town “Pretty Dark Girls”! CLEARLY you made the Daily Bombshell for a reason :-)

  59. sad that she feels the need to name her blog in such a manner..im glad I think pretty is pretty and complexion has nothing to do with it.

She could stand to buy larger pants and maybe consider a different wig/hairstyle that wouldn’t overpower her face.

  60. “Stylish” Very trendy … nothing really classic. The red plastic jewelry killed that whole outfit.

  61. Toni looks awesome, she put together her outfits very nicely and I think she’s pretty stylish. You definitely have great legs. Continue to do you miss.

  62. i think her style is ok. i like her shoes and the outfit with the bright green blazer and fuschia pants. the fit of most of her pants are way too tight. it’s not flattering and i’m seeing way too much camel toe.
