Hey Guys!
So I have a ton of pre-Coachella errands to run–laundry, nails, packing–so let’s get to today’s Bombshell!
Her name’s Kaylan from New Jersey, and she was nominated by her friend Nique:

Nique says, “I would describe Kaylan’s style as vintage meets modern day glam.”

“…Her style is the epitome of class.”

” She’s a designer and makes a lot of her own clothes–she has that designer’s eye and it shows through her style.”

“She can make a paper bag look like couture.”

Fashion Bombshell of the Day is a feature that showcases the singular style of Fashion Bomb Readers. Send your name, location, a description of your style, and your picture(s) to th************@gm***.com.

  1. I love the H&M top she’s wearing with the tutu mainly because today I wore the same shirt in white :) I don’t like the outfit with the yellow skirt. It just doesn’t compliment her at all.

  2. I like her hair and the leopard pumps. The rest is either not flattering or cheaply made. I do not see vintage or couture….smh

  3. Why does it look like she is intentionally accentuating all the wrong places? =/ The ruffles? The tulle? Especially with the floral frock and the yellow skirt… like she have the belt in place, which is used to minimize the waist and stomach area, yet there is a big ruffle, right underneath it…. Defeats the purpose… Her friend set her up. Cute girl though. I appreciate her shape and curves as well. I wish I had a little more, but none of these are appealing or flattering.

  4. I like the purple number with the leopard print pumps….everything else…Not so Much! I was rooting for her too, being that she’s from NJ! However, there are more misses than hits with this one.

  5. pretty girl but I’m not feeling these looks at all. Funny enough, I don’t know her but I see a friend of mine in one of her pics. go figure. lol

  6. Its a lot going on LITERALLY. Only outfit that I can say yes to is the beige number. NO MAS

  7. LOVE the leopard peplum and the ballerina inspired number!!!!! Definitely going to H&M this weekend :)

  8. *sigh*
I’m not quite sure what it is–maybe its the smirk or the hair piece that’s throwing the look off. She seems like she’s proud of her curves, but there’s a little too much spandex. I’m confused because she has cute pieces, but it’s coming off sloppy.
    :(

  9. Its funny how ya’ll going in!!!! Theres a fine line between having AN OPINION and being a straight up hater..how is she accentuating all the wrong places?…She has curves in the right places..and puts pieces together that yall couldnt to yall saved ya life…please nominate yourself so we can critic your amazing style…yeah rite…

  10. What about the hair is a flop? I just can’t see it. Anyhoo, not my style of dress but she’s very confident and looks comfortable in her way of dress. Me likes the last outfit most.

  11. I like the purple dress and the leopard skirt is to die for. I like the blush ensemble, but it needed different shades of pink to be executed well. The last look is a no.

  12. There are a few problems here. One, tulle is tough to pull off for anyone over the age of 5. But pink tulle? It’s just not exactly age-appropriate. I can see why her friend thought “vintage” because the ruffles in the leather and leopard print skirt and bright colors of the second outfit are giving 80’s. I think the comments are harsher than normal because the friend really hyped it up, particularly with the words “glam,” “class,” and “couture.”

  13. Two days ago yall complained about the fashion model have an advantage, and today yall complaining about this amateur not being polished enough. Folks can’t win here!

I think she looks nice. For a body type she picked nice pieces that fit her and she looks comfortable in them. I think people forget that having personal style is more important than being fashionable. I can tell she has her own style. Do you hun!

  14. I recommend cutting the bob a little shorter and choosing one or the other in terms of outfit. Either choose the loud skirt or top, not both.

  15. @lawyerChic….I agree…I see people saying they want no more boho chic styles, there are too many trendy and Forever 21 styles, too many boring stylistas (I was one of the boring bombshells…tee hee)…and the list goes on and on and on, oh gosh, give people a break nah. It takes guts to send ur pics for the world to view and critique you know. Critique all you want but be constructive about it at least! Stop moaning!

  16. Wow!!! Well I don’t see anything wrong with the way she’s dressed, all her looks are very polised and fit her well. I love it!!

  17. I don’t wanna say this the wrong way hmmmm, I appreciate her having her own since of style and she representing for the curvy girl because she had a great shape buuuuttttttt I don’t like any of the looks here. None of them compliment her, I’m nobody important but when ur shopping u have to be conscience of ur shape, yeah it’s cute but is it cute on u. I feel like she probably looks better on her average days, just my opinion though. Shout out to her friends for nominating her I’m sure she appreciates u guys for supporting her vision since shes a fashion designer, I would love to see more of her pieces. Xoxo

  18. She’s a pretty girl with a great shape. Some of her outfits could benefit from some teeny tweaks; But that’s true for darn near all of us, no : )?

Perhaps if the purple dress had a shorter peplum that went all the way around, or if she wore that multi-colored blouse and yellow skirt without the belt…or if she wore the tribal leggings and tank as is, but put a cropped shirt over it…

And actually, I particularly like the tulle skirt . For me, I think I might have done it with a leather bomber or denim jacket and a white tank to toughen it up a bit…or perhaps a vintage band tee. I also rather enjoy that leopard skirt.

  19. @Fashionably Late..she is classy..creative…Im not hyping anything up..alot of people dont appreciate individual style…if she was up here with a Rihanna red wig or some Nicki Minaj get up she would be hot then?..Think outside the box..Im done

  20. Look Im not a hater by a long shot…and this…this is not bad. And Im going to say the next thing the kindest way I know possible. Her size. Her size is somehow taking away from the looks that arent bad at all, actually. But, that’s me.

  21. love the pink and mauve dresses on her. they compliment her figure very well. I don’t like the diagonal piece on the black and white skirt because it’s muddling and confusing the whole look. Overall I think she has a nice style that works for her.

  22. I could see where she is going…but I think the styles she chose are unflattering and make her look bigger than she actually is. Like the last look and the leopard ruffle skirt..minus the ruffle top..double ruffle is a no. But i agree she is pretty.

  23. Overall, I like it. I have a curvy body as well …the body snark police *eye roll* just dont quit if youre bigger than a 10 though…with that said: Do you, and let them bang it out keyboard cop style.

  24. I agree with the size. I tried to say it in my comment when I said its alot going on, but I didn’t want to seem mean. Not all clothes are appropriate for all figures. Excessive prints and the ruffles make her appear larger.

  25. ALL these hating ass comments where are ya’lls avatars….so we could point fingers……and nit pick…She’s Looks cute in her Outfits….Get a LIFE!!

  26. LOL. I actually commented on how much I dislike the red hair on Rihanna a couple of weeks ago. But I certainly hope that you are done. You did your friend a disservice.

  27. “…Her style is the epitome of class.”

Her style is modern, but definitely not the epitome of CLASS! That’s just OTT!

  28. Nope, nope, NOPE! Nothing special. I really don’t think people should nominate others for having their pictures on a world wide website. it should really be up to the individual who might choose different pictures, might descrive their styles differently or who wouldn’t want their pictures on the site at all.

I didn’t like any of the looks. Nothing special. And the last look shouldn’t have even been sent in.

More people like the dude from Paris. <3

  29. I totally agree with Barbee. The styles just don’t do it for her. The the outfit with the pink tutu is something my 10 year old cousin would wear. Some of this outfit are a little immature in a sense for its wearer. But the leopard skirt is really cute.

  30. Damn does any1 care about other people feelings? The sad part is they won’t turn in their pictures in to be insulted not critique. I say own your style, stand out and be uniquely different. It’s called your style for a reason it’s what the person likes that matter it’s her fashion sense. It’s her style just say you don’t like it and keep it @ that some of the comments are just cruel. All that cyber bullying is childish and ridiculous.

  31. I see a thick Ma’Dame in the building! I love those tribal prints on her last picture!
I don’t really feel all the looks, but well she looks pretty comfy & got swag!
    Go bombshell!

  32. Claire, I think it is time to disable the comments and just leave the vote.

If people like it, others attack them for liking.
If people dislike it, others attack them for “hating” < SO HATE the words HATER & HATING

  33. I think her looks are cute and the fit is definitely right for a curvy lady..most of all she wears her confidence well..

  34. @ Positive over Negative

I don’t agree with that, I understand that some of the comments are a harsh. But it is expected, everyone is hiding behind a computer, so the incentive to go all out and diss these fashion bombshells is inevitable. These females (and occasional males), just have to be aware of the risk they’re taking submitting their pictures for complete scrutiny and the sometimeish compliment….

    ….mwahhh :)

  35. It’s definitely not my style, but there are some pieces that I love. Like the purple and leopard combo and the printed pants. Overall I think SHE looks fine in HER clothing.

  36. I LOVE HER STYLE. ITS SPEAKS INDIVIDUALITY. ITS CREATIVE AND ECLECTIC.. SHE IS PRETTY AND YES SHE DOES SEEM COMFORTABLE AND CONFIDENT WHICH IS EVEN MORE IMPORTANT WHEN IT COMES TO FASHION. MOST OF THE COMMENTS I’VE READ SEEM MORE ABOUT HATE THAN OPINION. MOST FEMALES I SEE ON THE STREET LOOK AVERAGE OR PLAIN. BUT THIS GIRL HAS GOT SWAG

  37. I like the styles. The beige is nice, as well as the purple with the leopard print shoes. I think she is having fun with her style. Its very eye catching. I don’t see many girls with her shape and size flaunting their curves or being bold enough to even show off their legs. Im rooting for this girl and want to see more of her styles and pieces.

  38. Hmmm…Where should I start? The last look. The leggings with a short tank top. Please wear leggings that cover your behind no matter what size you are. I will admit I have seen people pull off leggings with shorter tops.
What I would have worn instead: A white tunic oxford w/ a simple brown belt w/ some gladiators or brogues or a solid colored A-line dress, motorcycle denim jacket and some docs.

2nd to last outfit. I actually didn’t like this dress but I feel it looks pretty good on you.
What I would have worn: add some accessories

Pink Outfit: I think this outfit is really cute and suits her body well (the best out of these pics). Sure it’s younger but it’s fun and girly. My favorite.

Leopard print skirt outfit: Hate the ruffles and whatever on the skirt and skirt.
What I would have worn: a basic leopard bandage skirt w/ maybe that top or a lace black shirt

Yellow skirt outfit: I feel as if the skirt ruins the flow of the outfit with the the unnecessary fabric at the top.
What I would have worn: a skirt like that w/o extra fabric or a high waisted, fun colored pencil skirt which would eliminate the need for the belt which I don’t like (LOVE the top btw).

I hope I’m not being to harsh because I’m not trying to hurt anyone’s feelings. However, I feel it isn’t fair to say someone who doesn’t agree with your views a “hater”. I applaud you on being able to apply!

  39. RAVEN you are officially declared a HATER. This is not about what you would wear or do. Its easy to sit and talk about people from behind a computer but how do you look? what would people say about you? do you think you got style ma?. That right there just showed you up as a hater. Post up your pic and let us talk about you..

  40. Ma got style. Cute in the face and thick in the waist too. I like to see a woman that got some booty and thighs to match her sex appeal and can still leave something to the imagination. Some women need to understand that some of us guys want to see our woman with curves show off her physique and feel good about what she wearing. That makes a man feel good knowing his woman feel good. So yea I can dig this chick

  41. As much as I would love to LOVE this, I just cant. But I do like some of the looks. I do agree that the wrong areas are accentuated and I was distracted by those areas instead of looking at the cute oufits. I do agree though that her confidence is on point and she has FABULOUS ideas! Just pay attention to the fit of your clothes and you will be 100

  42. I love the outfit with the tutu and pinkish beige top! Honestly I think her style suits her! It works for her in my eyes, its not that bad. As long as she has confidence in what she wears, then that’s what matters.

  43. She has a killer shape that im jealous of! The clothes just make her look frumpy somehow imho (except the purple dress). Maybe if the yellow skirt was more fitted for instance… but overall something is off… I dunno

  44. Well since my post still isn’t going through. and I’m tired of typing.

Kaylan, I’m really sorry. Didn’t mean to hurt your feelings if I did.

And I actually have been thinking about sending in some pics. Don’t mind being called a hotmess as long as you give some advice/tips/suggestions of things I might like/look good on me.

    Positives of your post
    -your smile
    -your confidence
-your pink outfit is my fave outfit of the month so far
    -really nice legs
    -nice hair
    -nice bod
    -love all the bags
    -like your use of patterns
-like how all the colors you wear compliment your skin tone

Well this is my 3rd time doing this so I might have left something out.

  45. I see where she’s going with her look, but I don’t think she’s quite there yet. All of these outfits submitted appear kind-of sloppy and I think that is taking away from the whole look.
I think she should try some cleaner lines and avoid busy looks on both top and bottom.

  46. Okay my 4th time trying to post this. I’m sorry Kaylan if I hurt your feelings. Didn’t really mean to be mean

I like your smile, legs, bod, hair, the use of prints, all the colors you wear compliment your skin, tribal leggings, leopard heels=hawt, confidence, all your bags. I missing some things.

I’m really debating on sending in my pics. I don’t care if you guys are harsh on me as long as you provide some tips/suggestions of items I might like/items that would look good on me. Hopefully this goes through. *crossing fingers*

  47. Oh My gosh! Did u you all forget this was a blog and everyone was entitled to their opinion hate it or love it! When u put yourself out here like this there is a chance everyone wont love you. Its seems like her friends put her on here thinking everyone would love her style and we dont now yall wanna Get on here and call us haters for giving our opinion??? O_o Pleeezzzzz!!!!! Beautiful girl i love her shape but the outfits me no likey….. If u have a problem with the things we say Kaylan take it up with ur friends, they started it!

  48. First off shes gorg face wise…fashion is art 2 me…n her outfits r enjoyable 2 look at…frumpy or too tight which 1 is it…ppl r always gonna have something but what i see is a fab fashionista

  49. for a plus size women being able to find fashionable pieces is hard so i applaud. however the look with the bra showing and that tanktop should have not been submitted because thats a big dissapointment. I cannot stand seeing someones undergarment because it an UNDER garment. she could definitely improved her look by great accesories, a not so messy hair style, and some makeup (foundation and concealer to even her skin tone) (the “natural” look can almost always work). PULL IT TOGETHER AND RESUBMIT GIRL!! :) –is it me or are the looks getting repetitive?

  50. WOW!!!! I think she looks amazing. She made me smile with her cute and playful pieces. I think she is sexy and most certainly killing it. She doesn’t look sloppy to me at all and I don’t know what it is but it is all there…….for me. :)

  51. her size had nothing to do with it. there is nothing wrong with her size. some of this is just color and pattern overload. i actually think the pink tulle is the best look because it accentuates her curves. i also like how she looks in the purple dress. the only nice thing i can say about the yellow number is that if it were on a skinny girl it would be a hot mess on her too! and everyone should make sure their butt id covered when wearing leggings NO Matter their size!

  52. I don’t have a problem with any of her outfits… she is curvy nothing wrong with that… I am not a stylist but there are somethings I would change about some of the outfits…1. the purple and black … even though I love leopard … I believe that the dress would look better with a black patent leather platform heel. 2. outfit number two I actually like minus the belt. throws it off and looks cheap. 3. The leopard outfit is cute minus the shirt makes it look quite cheap and nice simple black tank or black long or short sleeve shirt will make it look much better. 4. The last outfit I like the pattern leggings or pants … there cute … The tank top doesn’t bother me but I believe that it will look much better if she had a blazer on. Just my opinion

  53. i’m not a fan. i don’t think the fit of her outfits worked. the embellishemets, like the ruffles on the black top, the leopard skirt, and the yellow skirt all made her look bigger. and no one should wear tights as pants. and i agree with whoever said that bombshells should probably submit pics themselves, because they probably have a wider range of photos and looks to choose from, know what outfits they would like the people to see, and know if they want to appear on a public website at all.

  54. The bomber who submits photos has the right to request no comments, but in the case like this one when someone is submitting pics of someone else, how is that handled.

And by the way, the word hater is overused. With every post, the question is posed, ‘what do you think’ if this persons style. Just because someone doesn’t like it make them a hater. Its brave to nominate yourself for bomber of the day, but If you aren’t prepared for those type of comments, dont submit photos.

  55. the shoes are throwing me off in some of these outfits, but I love the confidence!!! not quite there yet, but cool style!

  56. Curves in all the right places…? Perfect shape…?

I MIGHT be on board with the purple dress…might. Everything else is HAM. Sorry. I don’t mean to be mean, but it looks ticky tacky. That tutu dress wouldn’t be cute on a girl 20 years younger and 60 lbs less. sorry.

  57. Wow, there’s a lot of different opinions going on here, but I love her style, she pulls it off beautifully, in my opinion. I suppose she takes risks and she probably gets as many differing reviews in real life, but she’s doing her, and that confidence is fabulous. I love the purple dress and the leopard print skirt looks :)

  58. I really am generally an open minded person when it comes to style, but this one is a no for me…hot mess looks wises…pretty face
