A few of you have asked for more ‘polished’ Bombshells with a corporate (not hipster) swagger.
I thought Chyanne from D.C. fit the bill:

The wardrobe consultant and blogger for TheYuppieLady.com says, “My style is classic. Go-figure I guess, but it’s classic with a modern yet edgy twist.”

“… I love smart blazers, sleek skirts and trousers.”

” I tell women all the time, “your workwear doesn’t have to be boring just because you’re in an office environment.””

” I push the envelope here in D.C. and I enjoy it because my style is an expression of myself.”

“… So I hope I can bring something new to the Fashion Bombshell of the Day because every working woman is a Yuppie woman.”

Simple and sweet! See more of Chyanne and her work at www.yuppiebychyanne.com and www.theyuppielady.com.

  1. Headed to a law firm this summer and I aspire to have a look like this everyday. Loving the green wrap dress, the yellow sweater, and is that a denim blazer in the first pic? Love it!

It is so refreshing to see a fashionbomber who dresses like a grown-up and not just a clubgoer or a socialite.

  2. Nice…but it’s a little boring, looks like I’m looking at an ad for NY&Co. But I could be biased because I’m 19 and her look is very mature, something my mother would wear…

  3. VERY nice, but still kinda eh. Maybe because I work in a relaxed environment, I’m not used to the stifled looks of a business/business casual environment.

Kinda feel like I am looking at an Ann Taylor/Ann Taylor loft ad in terms of the styling.

  4. But i would be interested in seeing more business looks as opposed to the hipster/casual looks in future bombshells.

  5. I would have like to have seen how this corporate fashionista does pants and suits.

  6. Talk about dressing for success! She is a smart beautiful lady who knows how to dress appropriate without compromising her style. 

  7. I think her wardrobe is great for the employed lady. Lots of staple pieces that can be mixed and matched. Very similar to my work week wear, two thumbs up!

  8. I think she looks great, could be cause this is exactly how I dress for work most days. I love classic looks like this still I think she could mix it up a bit with more avant garde/risking accessories. Other than that I think she looks fab!

  9. She looks sleek and refined. I like the purple and snake print combo and the green dress the best.

  10. Very nice looks, but does she dress like she’s going to work all the time? Kind of boring.

  11. DC is a very conservative city, so while this may be boring to some, she is really pushing the envelope here with her inclusions of brights and prints. Give us DC professionals a break!

  12. they’re all cute except the printed skirt / purple shirt combo (although it could be just the pose).

  13. I love this, for those of working in environments where you can’t wear shaggy boots, headbands etc, this is fabulous. I’m getting shades of Michelle Obama from this. A nice dose of real-life-corporate-working-girl- this-is-my-reality fashion.

  14. Very great looks for work. You can’t dress like you’re going out all the time!!!

  15. “Kinda feel like I am looking at an Ann Taylor/Ann Taylor loft ad in terms of the styling.”

You have summed up the DC uniform. She is beautiful.

  16. LOVE! honestly, this is almost how i dress to work (in an Embassy) but I wish I could keep it tidy like Chyanne! i hate conformist clothing, so I always try to add some signature “wackness” to feel like i’m socking it to the man, but in the end i just look wacky! my style needs some maturing i guess…

  17. As a woman in my 30’s wrkin in Corporate America i can appreciate this. This is a nice classic look that inspires me to not just wear black slacks n jacket all the time. Grown woman sophistication !!

  18. OK! Luvs it! This is exactly what I needed in a Bombshell. Some are saying the looks are “Boring” but if you work in a traditional corporate environment this is very appropriate. Love the pops of color with traditional pieces. Would have love to see her weekend style. Favoriting her blog in …3…2…1.

  19. Well, it is corporate, and for DC, I imagine its a little more stuffy since they are a bunch of old heads. Simple, chic, non threatning in the best way possible. Love the olive anorak and the denim blazer.

I work in a very conservative corporate environment as well, but its good thing I work in a more creative dept. I think we have a little more leeway.

  20. This is a good choice for bombshell. While I love the hipster fashionistas, which is how I’ve been dressing myself, my look needs to evolve as I enter the workforce. I’ve just graduated college and I’ve been looking for inspiration on how to develop my style for a corporate office. I like how she has a statement necklace to bring out her outfits.

  21. LOVE IT!

I like that she looks refined, polished and stylish all in the same breath. She makes work wear look relaxed and effortless.

I can relate to Chyann, being as though I too am a professional in corporate America working/living in dc. It’s great to see rompers, mid-dresses, crop tops and funky yet trendy clothes on bombshells, but today’s bombshell speaks to my lifestyle and what I would wear Monday – Friday.

Thanks Claire for providing a variety.

  22. Awesome bombshell! Fashionable AND work appropriate. Thanks for representing the gainfully employed :)

  23. I like all of her looks. Thanks for a little office inspiration for us working 9-5 gals!

  24. I am in total agreement with Grace. I think some people miss the mark in that many of us are professionals and have to dress accordingly. And then there are others who might be college students or just not working in a corporate environment so their lifestyles allow for different warobe options. She looks mature and well over 30 so her style reflects just that and she’s so in her lane. I am sure she has nice and stylist night time looks as well. But something else style represent is your lifestyle.

  25. Simple, elegant, clean and conservative. I am personally sick of all these girls trying to do high fashion when it clearly is not for them. Know what works best for you and rock it. Good job gworl

  26. I wear a uniform now to work, but before…this is EXACTLY how I dressed….love it doll!

  27. I love the style for her, but this is not my thing. Her clothes fit well and she has a lot of confidence which i love.

  28. Yes, I agree I would like some more bombshells like this…!!!
I love conservative looks with a twist thats my style!

  29. Every outfit was great!!!! her style is very simple and chic …. great choice Claire!!!!!!!!!

  30. Thanks Claire,

Its so refreshing to find bombshells who actually work in corporate/business settings. Bombshells come in every environment and I applaud you for this post

  31. Chic, perfect for the young working professional. With a few accessory and shoe changes these outfits will be perfect for happy hour.

  32. terilili said it best: it’s refreshing to see a fashion bomber who doesn’t dress like she’s going to the the club…..

  33. She looks great and very chic. I love the pop of color, and the look with the nude pumps is my fav. She’s an all around fab chick. Two thumbs up!

  34. Amazing! She inspired me to be more creative with my work wardrobe and be stylish during the weekdays. Style doesn’t have to be reserved for weekends only.

  35. I had to laugh at the comment stating that she is well in her 30s. She does not look that old! She looks like a well put together professional in her (late) 20s. I enjoy the typical fashion bomber, but this woman reflects my style and I appreciate seeing that as well. Thanks Claire!

  36. I like her style. I am an attorney and switching from strictly business attire to business casual attire in my firm office. She is giving me great ideas.

Her style also reminds me of the First Lady Michelle Obama’s style.

  37. it’s definetely more POLISHED & CLASSY than what we’ve had lately.
I love it! Gave me some ideas for an important event I’m attending this week- end.
Keep the Lady in you ;)

  38. Her style is great for the corporate world! Shes definitely the fly gurl of the office!

  39. Love this! I enjoy the daring/avant garde/hipster looks, but I relate to this more as a 30 year old working professional. Keep it up!

  40. I appreciate everyone’s feedback. Positive or negative, it doesn’t bother me one bit. All smiles here! It’s good to see what people think about my style. I do understand how some may think it’s boring, but I can do but so much working in a political environment.

Thanks for the feature! And I’m happy to read every single comment good or bad. BIG SMILES!

  41. I love her look! It’s trendy, sophisticated and professional. It’s very work appropriate for a corporate setting. If you’re a 21 year old bartender then no it’s not for you. But I think all of the “grown women” climbing the corporate ladder can appreciate this polished, colorful, sleek & sexy look. I love it!

  42. If I had to describe her look in one word…Classic. All of Chyanne’s ensembles are very classic in the sense that you can transition easily from work to evening wear. I absolutely love her style! I think she is one of the few that actually “get it”, what women are really looking for in fashion.

  43. Definitely great looks, and some great ideas that I can take into the workplace. Loving all of it.

  44. This is nice…I work in the corporate world in DC and it is all black, navy blue, grays and beige…color is always nice.

  45. NOPE! she looks like she has an obsession with Old Navy. She makes me want to take a nap.

put with it the “Average Black Woman Low Cut Hair” and she wouldn’t stand out in a crowd.

  46. This is corp mid manager safe… nothing in her look speaks to an edgy twist as she has stated. In fact she looks JUST LIKE THE MANNEQUIN in the window of Lerners with the outfit of the week.

  47. Not bad…very well put together but honestly this is one reason i don’t work in corporate america in the traditional sense. You *can* be adventurous and not boring too. not sure if this hits the mark. This is all a little too bland.

  48. Absolutely love the look; not too dressing and not at all boring. Thanks for sharing your ideas Chyanne from DC.

  49. I appreciate her sleek and refined looks although I would have appreciated more diversity as well. Some of the posters calling her style “boring” need to understand that some of us are actual adults and can’t/choose not to run around in over-the-top tacky trends all of the time. Style>Fashion

  50. I love. This is what the real world is like for most of us and she does it oh so well. If you got that Chambray blazer from JCrew, then we have the same one. Off to check out her blog

  51. Love her style since I’m just starting in the workforce. Wish I lived near her to get her wardrobe consultation!!

  52. great conservative work looks. i LOVE that yellow sweater. i would’ve like to have seen outfits that she’d be more likely to wear on her free time too.

  53. I guess this is how my principal would love for me too dress…umm not. but she’s cute. i like everything.

  54. LOVE! Im not one to wear mini skirts , and I prefer a more polished appearance(Im 23 – I need to be able to wear my clothes to church , and to work)

  55. I absolutely love her look. You can’t always go out wearing “the most”. Sometimes you need a more conservative look ie. church, work… Very cute, grown woman status. By the way I’m 19 also so it has nothing to do with age.
