Closing out this busy week is Chakayla from North Carolina:

She says, “I am the head blogger of a fashion blog called ClassicRawBeauty (www.classicrawbeauty.blogspot.com).”

“Since I’m a college student on a tight college budget, I am a constant thrifter and bargain shopper.”

” I have no shame in cutting clothes and sewing them into a completely different outfit.”

” Vintage and 70s bohemian references are my pin points of style, I refuse to live in the box that the fashion world can create.”

“.. Eclectic and eccentric would be the two words that would help me describe my personal style. It takes a bold individual to retrace and recreate the lines of fashion that have confined so many others.”

” Shout out to those dope men and women who are redefining fashion.”

What do you think? Is Chakayla redefining chic?

  1. not feeling it…….if this is what recreating pieces looks like I’d rather for her to just go in the store and buy clothes her size and leave.them.alone……hemlines too short for frame, none of the looks come together …but to be positive at least she tried.

  2. She looks terrible. She Ill-fitting clothes and an allergy to proper undergarments does not equal ecletic.

  3. O_o… Like I keep saying…big girls have to pay a little bit more for their clothes so that they won’t be ill-fitting. She could have looked better if she invest in some better support. And throw out that pink dress with the cream lace top, it doesn’t fit at all.

  4. NO MA’AM. Living the camel colored heels, would also love the deets. But that pink skirt…God FORBID if you got caught in a wind storm.

  5. The fit of her clothes bother me. She needs to learn what suits her frame and what doesn’t ..clothes way too short and tight. Those strappy grey shoes with her big toe scraping the ground, umm…a HUGE No No…but I do like the leopard blouse with the white blazer…Hmm, can’t wait for tomorrow’s bombshell!

  6. @Trina….don’t you know toes scraping the ground in the new trend. Girl, get with the times!!! They are called cliffhangers!!!!

  7. Her hair is very nice! the concepts are good, but the fit of the clothing is HORRIBLE! being a former big girl myself I know how hard it to find great pieces that don’t make you like an oompa loompa. It’s a constant struggle to get clothing to fit corectly onto your body. Your outfits are not horrible, but the fit is not on point. I’m going to get slamed for saying this, but your clothing would sit better if you droped a good 30 pounds. You have a pretty face and your clothing should compliment that. Thanks for submiting your pics.

  8. Okay, I want to provide some constructive criticism since she is young and a college student. The idea of most of the outfits were okay. I liked the white blazer look and the one shoulder dress (would have been better with leggings or tights due to the legnth). However, please invest in some wide belts. A defined waist will really help your proportions! But love that you are a full figured young lady with confidence, keep rocking that sweetie!

  9. The burnt orange platform sandals are hot!

I agree with everyone on the fit being off in most of the outfit. That said, I think people are extremely harsh, especially on the big girls. There’s no way any of this is going to fit her body the way it would on someone 100lbs lighter.

In general, I have a lot of respect for whomever submits photos here. They’re brave enough to face all of the criticism!

  10. you would think at a size 4 i could wear anything. WRONG! I wont buy something if I feel the fit is off. Believe me I have let go of plenty of cute pieces just because it didn’t fit my body correctly.

  11. that pink skirt is scary short. too short for anyone to wear. but i like the rest! do your thing girl!

*waiting for someone to make a health comment that is in no way related to fashion in 3….2….1..*

  12. I think the only looks that don’t ‘quite’ work are the orange skirt & the striped skirt (which could have been good with maybe a diff tank top. think wider straps) Other than that really cute!

  13. Of course her clothing would look better if she was smaller. It’s her life and she can wear whatever she wants.

  14. She has potential but needs to understand the fit of clothing, invest in some key pieces (because I see none), and learn to polish the look! Great style is effortless and this is not that!

  15. Its been said a couple times before, but I’ll say it again. Nice ideas/pieces but there are some serious fit issues. She says she does some altering. Maybe some more work needs to be done there…or maybe thats the issue. Either way, there is potential!

  16. I like it! I’m embracing her cultural touch, it gives me a Ledisi and Chrisete Michele kinda feel, not that I’m trying to put her in a box because these ladies can’t be defined but she has that soulful style that I see in them

  17. The idea was good but the execution…not so much. The clothes were ill fitting. That peach skirt is a bit too short for my tastes.

  18. There are some fit issues, (to be redundant) Some are too big, some are too small. And giving good advice to a college student, no matter what you want to invest in a great piece. Stack ur money and buy that 150-200$ blazer, it’ll take you a long way. And I do agree w SassyShoeLady, a couple of wide belts will make ur look more polished and show off ur figure.

  19. the white blazer look was my fave, it fit her the best. she’s got some good ocncepts but she really has to dress to fit her size. buy clothing that fits your body & not ever y trend is going to do that, regardless of your size. her hair is FAB though, really like the way she styles it. keep working on the looks hun!

  20. Nice use of color and patterns but I am distracted by the fit and length of the clothes. She has great taste but would be more stylish if the cut and fit of her clothing flattered her figure. Love her shoes!

  21. I like that she does what works for her body (for the most part) because I know how hard it can be… However, some of the pieces I thought were a little too short….

Other than that, I like her originality

  22. Actually her style, which I perceived as funky meets frothy, was really cute in my opinion. I loved the mix of textures and moods, & I assume she will have more investment pieces when she’s not spending 1-2k on books a semester. Very nice.

  23. lmfao these comments are killing me.
and erm get clothes that correspond with your body type and flatters you. you can get away with it always, size of clothes matter :)

  24. I like her style-because I actually see where its going but I wish she’d play with the hemlines a little. I think some things are a little too short or too tight.

  25. Beautiful woman….great hair….some the pieces are ill fitting. I’m plus size too and I know how you see something on another blogger and you are inspired but it doesn’t translate….alot of times it doesn’t translate to our size. Stay bold and different but concentrate of fit( which I still struggle with as well:))!

  26. Lawd…e for effort I will say…it wasn’t a total disaster…she just needs to work on the fit of her clothing and smile a little more…she looks uncomfortable or already on the defense cause she knows she looks questionable…

  27. re the pink skirt: Where is the rest of it. That would be a short tunic, but as a skirt, girl….you better cover yourself up.

I like the ideas of the black/white/yellow pants outfit and the blazer, but certain elements (rolling up shorts, the grey sandals) don’t work.

  28. Confidence is good, self awareness is even better… just saying.
How do you manage to expose the camel toe with some baggy pants?
    *mind-boggling*

  29. I say if you are confident enough to wear and felt beautiful doing so who am i to talk about your fit. As I may not rock what you do I respect your fashion and I have actually visited your site and become intrigued with your DIY projects as well as your hair and your eye for vintage looks.

  30. I like her shoes, bags and hair. Style wise I like the white blazer and shorts combo and the one shoulder tunic dress in the last photo. The other looks probably could have been better if they fit properly.

  31. She has some cute pieces but i dont think “big girls” should wear spaghetti strap dresses…White blazer outfit is cute..and I love the camel heels!

  32. Some of you commenters sound extra wack …. Super bored with your life to be hurling insults at some girl you don’t know GET A LIFE … As for ChaKayla …. From an exBBW to a BBW #1 just because they make it in your size doesn’t mean you MUST wear it ….#2 If you are going to wear that which was not made for your size u better invest in some heavy duty under garments aka spanx. The type of spanx that are DNA type tight! Okkkkay boo boo! Looks 1 and 4 are clutch!

  33. I would like to begin by saying I like most of the looks.. I see bombshell in the look with the black and white top, beige pant and burnt orange platform. I will def recreate that look with my own flare. I feel people are too caught up on her size to focus on her fashion. Many of the people who comment on these bombshells will love some one who is smaller and tacky then criticize someone bigger and fashionable. Let’s just stick to judging the clothes! :)

  34. I like your style love i like to see girls like her bein confident and showin the girls look I can give fashion too you know keep it up :)

  35. All these ppl that are saying “not feeling it” are the same ones who write “this looks good” on all the GHETTO-fied posts. While some of her clothes are ill-fitting, this girl has a classic/natural style that looks good on her. Thank God she isn’t wearing cheap heels and Rainbow clothing. Some of you could afford to take note.

  36. Cute girls-doesn’t know how to dress for her body type at all. Some looks are alright like the look with the white blazer and the one with the tube top but the rest seem a bit questionable to me.

  37. Wow. u guys are a tough crowd! Anyone past a size 12 gets no love on this blog and sometimes I agree with everyone with the fashion but….dang. After I voted i was surprise to see the reponses. My friend is around her size and I see how she constantly struggles with finding clothes she like becuase she feel limited. If we go shopping I always find what I need and she has to settle for what she can find. Chakayla you have great style and your confidence shines in each picture ;) … work it girl!!!!

  38. The comments are a lot nicer this time around(critical but with a bit more tact). I like some of her pieces and I think she looks nice. The only problems I have are with that short, short pink/orange skirt and the sandals where her toes are hanging out. I don’t understand who would wear that outside. I would be so worried that my unmentionables would be on display. Otherwise I like it.

  39. ‘Girl ‘as a Fashion Designer , a blogger and a student u need to work on one thing….’FIT’.

  40. I really like your style but its clear your not wearing the proper undergarments. Its definitely needed under the knits.

  41. oH mY….
    Girlfriend needs to stop…
all women could benefit from proper undergarments…
its like did she even look in the mirror?
    honestly.
And what about a little makeup?
    SMH.

  42. F*uck flattering she looks good so all yall get a life cuz u guys suck nd put to much thought into the fashion bombshell

  43. people in here are saying that some people are being mean, i actually think the majority of people are being very nice— nobody’s making jokes and most people who are critiquing are giving negatives as well as positives.

i agree with what most people have said. i like your style and def. see where you’re going with it. keep it up but just keep fit in mind.

  44. i just went on her blog, she’s got much better looks that she could’ve put up on here!! looks that i think would’ve made her a contender for bombshell of the week.

i knew she had great style, she just submitted the wrong pics!!

anyway, keep girl, keep doing you!

  45. i’m still looking at her blog getting madder by the second!!! girl!!! she’s got some great looks!!! uggghhh!!!

Maybe cut down on the food…and put the money towards a good quality bra. just sayin….

  48. @ Forreal maybe you should cut down on the bitter ass attitude and get a life. This site is about FASHION not weight. get a life.

  49. She dresses like she thinks she is 135 lbs. I’m sorry, you are not fashionable if you don’t dress for your body type, no matter how cute the clothes.

  50. i love all of her fits…except the stripped skirt look. I don’t see anything wrong with the fits of the other outfits. i love her. geaux girl!

  51. I like her looks. Some of them are a bit short for my taste but she is pretty – and young- so go for it! As far a the fit is concerned, that can be fixed. Overall I think she has a good eye for putting pieces together.

  52. the outfits were quite cute, i’ll admit but size has nothing to do with the fit issue. there are stick thin women who still don’t know what works for them. just because you can get it on doesn’t mean it fits and you should wear it.
