So I was just invited to attend Style Week in Jamaica at the end of the month! The event will showcase some of the best talent from the island. Should be interesting.
Lucky me, my passport just expired…so while I go ahead and renew that, I present you with Candy Renee, a stylist and blogger from Jamaica:

Candy’s friend actually submitted her for our favorite feature once before. This time around, she sent in a few flicks on her own.

She says, “I want to be an example that Caribbean girls and girls from small islands can be apart of the fashion industry no matter how big the industry is.”

“…The fact that I am Jamaican confuses a lot of people because they think coming from a small island such as Jamaica we couldn’t possibly know anything about the fashion world.”

“… I am based In New York but It took me a while to get here and I just want people to know that island ladies do have style and we know fashion.”

Preach! See more of Candy Renee’s words and style on her blog, www.candyrenee.com.

Fashion Bombshell of the Day is a feature that showcases the singular style of Fashion Bomb Readers. Send your name, location, a description of your style, and your picture(s) to th************@gm***.com.

  1. I don’t like her style. I don’t necessarily see Caribbean in her way of dress.

  2. I love her look…yes the paint splash pants and thwe black and white ones…she look fashion forward and comfy at the same time. Cute figure too

  3. I like her previous post pics better but the black and white outfit is cute.

  4. @ jenny… what is exactly ‘Caribbean’ style of dress?? What’d you expect to see? Ice gold and green turbans? Read her description, she is not proclaiming to dress Caribbean.

Anyhoo…me like…especially the last two outfits. (C’bean represent! even though I’m from trini…hehehe)

  5. Okay those the kind of daisy dukes I love! #shortSHAWTS

    <3 fringy necklace.

  6. I only like the WHite top with the stripe pants. We island girls, like girls all over the globe have our own style. We love color, but I wasnt feeling most of her outfits. Not my taste, but like i said above (HER OWN STYLE) Do your thing lady, wear whatever makes you feel good. AS LONG AS IT’S CLEAN LOL

  7. She’s cute! I like alot of her pieces. I want those blck n white pants AND the shirt please and thanks:)

BTW she looks naturally thin w/curves and her body is sick (no homo)

    Go Candi!

  8. @ colorblock… WTH is “looking Jamaican”? I swear some folk need to think before they type…

anyway, I LOVE the splash pants on her and I generally ABHOR harem pants. I think the pattern does it for me with these though. I would have liked to see her pair them with a tank and a blazer for more effect. keep doing your thing chica!

  9. GOODNESS those shorts would be borderline obscene minus the stockings! lol I like how she pulled that look off & made it come across classy. I’m feeling the black & white patterned dress also. Decent.

  10. not my cup of tea. i liked the outfits in the first batch of pics better. but i do love that robins egg blue polish on her nails.

  11. Not my style but it suits her well.

    Note to colorbloc:

“Out of many, one people.” (Jamaica’s motto) Please know your facts before you make ignorant comments. I get that same comment all the time… I’m jamaican (mixed with Black/White/Chinese/).

  12. interesting “she doesn’t look jamaican” …. idk what that means, and today is not the day I want to find out

  13. What exactly do Jamaicans look like? Were you expecting an extra from Dancehall Queen? Kmt

    Out of many, one people.

  14. Wowww. Love to see my island girls repping
I love the colors and the “hammer” pants! Makes me miss my island.
Yes out of many we are one people :-)
Good work girl makes me proud to be Jamaican!

  15. Oh JAH! Ignorance abounds. What does a Jamaican look like?

ANY-WAYYYY…I like her harem pants. She rocks them well…

  16. Okay we get it. A person made an ignorant comment. Anyway, she has nice legs and I like her pieces.

  17. Welcome to 1982 in those paint splash pants. Richard Simmons was sweating to the oldies in those back in the day.

  18. Im only gonna comment on the first outfit. I like the structure of the outfit (meaning the boots, shorts, 2 sweaters can be put together somehow or way). However I did NOT like the chosen colors/patterns/cloth/materials that were used. Example the ST. John “looking” vest under the abercromie gray sweater dont match. Stone wash Denim with all this?

Boots are cute though and I applaud the shape/structure of the outfit, I wouldnt have thought of that, might give it a try.
