How’s everyone enjoying the fall? It’s pretty warm here in NYC, and I have not a single complaint!

At any rate, today’s Bombshell is Brittney from Chicago, Illinois. Get into her style:

  1. She has some cute pieces, but she would look better if she cut some weight.this is just the truth.

  2. I liked the all black which had the leather jacket and leather skirt. in the mean time, I have to go exercise

  3. ∧ Sigh. C’mon, guys. She’s a pretty girl. Liked the idea and execution of the second outfit (black/gold) best. Careful with shoe fit, Brittney (the nude stilettos and blue suede sandals).

  4. Her confidence and style make me smile.

The comments..ya’ll are to hard on people…let those with out sin cast the first stone. If God wanted us all to be a size 0 he would have created our DNA that way. I’m sure she knows what size she is!! Be nice it cost you NOTHING!!

  5. Seriously SMV!! Seriously??? If it were that easy, we would be size 2s and models will earn minimum wage. Gosh, people really lack common sense when they are hiding behind a computer screen!

    On things that really matter…
I like her style. She likes a lot of prints and colors and she makes it work in her own way, for her body. Good Job Brittney.

  6. I like the color combo of the pink blazer and red trouser. Brittney has a good sense of style and what works for her curves. Yall are a bunch of meannies. Am sure she’ll loose wait if and when she’s good and ready.

  7. these comments though.

hit & misses for me, but i am loving the black skirt + leather jacket combo & the striped skirt.

  8. some of yall are just asses, yeah she’s overweight, but this is not a health blog, this is fashion, and her fashion is on point.

Hunni you look great now at whatever size you are, and if you decide to go on a weight loss journey, im sure you will look great at every stage of that process. Sit down haters!

    Blessings :)

Less time on blogs and more time on grammar.
    You’re vs. Your :o/

  10. Some of yall are just asses! Yeah, she’s overweight, but this is not a health blog, this is fashion, and her fashion is on point!

Hunni, you look great right now at whatever size you are. And if you decide to go on a weight loss journey, I’m sure you will look great at every stage of that process. Sit down haters!

  12. yazzzz curves are definitely in the building i live !! love the leather outfit

BTW, will absolutely continue to ignore the asinine, negative comments and I hope everyone follows suit !! GOOD DAY :)

  13. @Sha: sorry but leave God outside of this. He clearly says in His word that eating uncontrollably is wrong and that you have to take care of your body, His temple. So don’t go there…
I agree she would look better fashion wise with less weight. But at the same time, it’s great to see her having fun with clothes an d trying to look stylish despite her weight.

  14. I cannot deal with these comments. Are we effing serious?? “Less time on fashion, More time on losing weight”???? If it were that easy, the weight loss business will not be a multi-million dollar industry, we would all be size 2s, and models will earn minimum wage. These comments are so depressing, I can’t even focus on the post. Anonymous at 2:23, Did you wake up this morning and think -“hmm, how can I destroy someone else’s self esteem today?” You need to spend less time on fashion blogs and more time developing your common sense.

    On brighter note..
I like her fashion. Its colorful and funky. Her pieces are cute and she makes it work for her body. Good job Brittney.

  15. Her style is cute but she looks REALLY unhealthy, and that makes it hard to focus on the fashion. I’m sorry but it has to be said.

  16. I liked each look except the last…it was not very flattering. For the most part, her items fit well and compliment her figure. Sn: I think it’s safe to assume she’s aware of her weight and came to this site to showcase her STYLE, rather than visiting a health or weight loss site for advice. It’s ok to critique the style and even SAY you don’t like it. But I think we should treat each other with the same respect we want to be treated with and stick to the topic at hand…FASHION.

  17. Full of confidence, I love how her attitude is represented in her style. Love it ! Go girl….

  18. Execution on point!!!! I love that she isnt afraid of color.. I love the jackets and the stripe outfit was super cute GO Girl !!! They just mad bcus they not curvy !!! I’m sorry but curves just make an outfit look BETTER!!! and I dare any of them to come for me .. how dare you tell someone they need to loose weight! comment about her clothes not her weight!

  19. For those of you that judged her on her size we are not here for that. I don’t see you making the comment of other Bombshells being skinny toothpicks but you decide to bash her on her size instead of giving your opinion on her style. Which by the way she can put together some pretty nice outfits minus the printed pants. Please do not make me post the link to Claire’s article regarding all the criticism that another plus size bombshell received because of her size and not her style. Get off it. If you don’t have anything nice to say shut the hell up and refrain from typing.

  20. Some of yall are just disgusting! Yeah, she’s overweight, but this is not a health blog, this is fashion, and her fashion is on point!

Hunni, you look great right now at whatever size you are. And if you decided to go on a weight loss journey, I’m sure you will look great at every stage of that process. Sit down haters!

    Blessings :)

  21. Some of you are HORRIBLE the comments are UNNECESSARY and ridiculous. She is braver than most of those that post on here. Some of you probably look like a shitpile because you definitely are acting like one. Worry about your own weight and GTFO the internet with your bullying you wouldn’t pay dust to her if you saw her in the streets. Damn bitter ass hags!!!

    DISCLAIMER:
I do not know this young lady at all. Sick of internet thugs coward asses.

  22. No matter what size she is, she’s still killing half of yall in the fashion department. I would love to see some of these people’s wardrobe. I swear it is some of you guy’s sole mission to find and provide the most negative commentary about someone..which says more about you then her. Love her style but even more her confidence!

  23. Work it!

I’m mad that some of yall think that she should be dressed in a sack because she’s plus-sized too. Some of you are really mean and scornful for no damn reason and you need to check your lives. If she chooses to lose weight that’s on her, but she doesn’t have to wear mumus until she reaches a goal weight. She looks good and she has some hits.

  24. Some of y’all are MEAN! I thought we were here to see if she’s a bombshell – not to judge her weight. I really like the pink jacket/red pants combo. I think she looks great and I would kill for her confidence!

  25. WHILE LOOKING AT THESE PICTURES I KNEW SOMEONE WOULD HAVE TO STOOP SO LOW AND COMMENT ON HER WEIGHT, WHICH HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH FASHION. ITS SO SAD. I HOPE THESE COMMENTS GET DELETED. THATS JUST SAD. SO SAD. SHE KILLED EVERY LOOK IF YOU ASK ME SIMPLY BECAUSE SHE IS CONFIDENT IN WHAT SHE WEARS. AND THAT STANDS OUT!

  26. Love her look and it goes to show that great style comes in ALL Shapes and Sizes…work it girl cause you are wearing it very well…BOOM

  27. I LURVE the pink blazer/red pants combo! But the last outfit is a miss to me…not a fan of bra/crop tops on ANYone over a certain age, especially a woman w/full-size breasts. I think it sends the wrong message.

  28. Wow! Why the rude comments? :( Must we comment on weight everytime there is a plus-size bombshell? Anyways, she looks great! :)

  29. The black outfit with the tights is not a good look. Neither is the midriff situation. Everything else looks fantastic. Overall, she has great style. I just wish that ALL people (petite, regular, plus) would be honest with themselves about how to dress their body types. Everything ain’t for everybody. Hits and misses in my opinion.

  30. Same old, same old, on the plus size Bombshells. These folks never get tired of saying the same things.

Brit has awesome and fearless style. Something that some women regardless of their size wish they had. I love her blog. She’s the sweeetest. Keep going Brit!!

  31. I agree with everyone that this is a fashion site, however, I was distracted by her weight. While I do think she is fashionable, her weight does distract from being titled a “bombshell” and she should really use this feedback as a catalyst for her to attempt to get healthy.

  32. Under the anonymity afforded by the internet people spew the most hateful and hurtful vile. Here is a woman celebrating her body by swathing herself in the threads she find appealing, much like we all do.

She is bold. She is daring.

Shame on the commenters who find this to be the forum to “fat shame.” I read this blog because of its inclusivity. Fashion is open to all.

  33. I think its fashion forward and cute. And a number of steps above “safe” especially with her size. Bomb on honey!

I actually like the last outfit. The pose is doing dis-justice and the shoes are all wrong buts its cute for what it is.

  34. I wish that the cruel people’s comments could be read to an overweight person they love (you gotta have a fat person in your life you care about), so that they could get the shit slapped out of them for the disgust they are putting out into the world. Shame on those of you who are that evil.

Now to the outfits. It’s great to see a curvy women not follow standard fashion rules. Love the all black-leather and black and white striped bodycon skirt outfit, but I wasn’t impressed by the accessories, shoe choices or hair styles and those things take an outfit up to the next level.

  35. Before I voice my opinion I would like to say I am in no way offending anyone but seriously guys ? I just read more comments about her weight oppose to her sense of style. Okay she is a bigger girl but who are we to tell her to lose weight and stop eating. If her style doesn’t fit your style simply add this look isn’t for me. Claire did not ask who thinks this beautiful young lady needs to lose weight. I pray she reads these comments and only continue to do as she has been doing, looking fierce . Now for my opinion I think she looks great a little more accessories would do the trick but home girl is holding it down for the plus size beauties. Claire please consider disabling the comment box again. Please!

  36. I just knew all the negative nancy’s would show up on the plus sized post to sprew hatred.

Is she supposed to have low self esteem and not leave the house or coordinate her clothing just because she has weight issues?

She’s pretty and has some cute looks with great confidence!

  37. I’m sorry, she is seriously unhealthy and I wish women would stop substituting having amazing confidence to mask the fact that they are indeed in risk of diseases and other complications from being obese. More power to you for feeling comfortable in your own skin, but you will feel entirely better once you change your lifestyle and make it a healthier one. On another note, love the wang handbag!

  38. Not bombshell worthy. The sequined outfit was cute though. Her being HUGE is quite obvious. But she puts herself together better than some plus size women.

  39. @Emma…please refrain from telling me who to include in my opinion, on a post, on a public internet site!!!! If I choose to use God in my comment.. SO WHAT?!!! Who are you to tell me not too?

I always wonder what people that cast stones are like in their real lives.

Ya’ll gotta learn not everything deserves a negative response. Like the saying goes…Some things are better left unsaid!! How BOUT IT?

  40. I like how she combines colours. I don’t think she’s a bombshell because some of the clothes she wears are too tight. The leather skirt is an example. The nude shoes look painful.

  41. And how do you know for a FACT..her size is determined by what she put in her mouth? Stop ASS-suming!

The bible also tells us to let God judge us not man!! Stop trying it on my time!!

She’s a pretty girl with great style and great confidence. How could another human be mad at that? SMDH!! Anything else is her personal business!!

    Moving on!!

  42. I really like the looks, as far as her weight don’t you guys think that she don’t know she is fat already. Damn, who cares , i will like to see the guys throwing out the insults wearing a bikini or even a one piece.

  43. I am SO OVER people judging people based on their weight. This is a FASHION blog. Keep it about the fashion and subtract your self hating comments. I love reading this blog, but time and time again when there is a plus size submission, out comes the ignorance and hate. I am familiar with Brittany, in fact, she is one of my favorite bloggers. Her fashion eye is on point and her confidence and attitude rocks. As long as she continues to post, I will continue to read. And since I have read her blog for such a long time, I know that your hateful comments will cause her to give zero fcuks and keep on being fresh and fabulous. I say WERK hunty and let the haters hate.

  44. I dislike the fit of her clothes and shoes. I think many of the outfits would be great if it were 1-2 sizes bigger. Get rid of those nude chunky Mary Janes. they are awful.

  45. I’m getting sick and tired with the fat shaming on this site. Just stop. she’s a pretty girl with an OK style.

  46. There will always be trolls on blogs… Don’t disable the comment box becasue one positive comment trumps every negative one! With that being said, LOVED the use of color! I agree, loved the stripped look and even the backgrounds! (which some people don’t even consider when submitting..)The leather vest in the alley look was fierce too!

  47. Claire, to avoid negative comments and give ALL your readers the courage to submit their fashion style, it would be nice to avoid having a comments section for this post and just leave the poll you have revently added. People should not be rediculed for their weight when they only send photos for fashion kudos and insight. IMO

  48. Kay I appreciate your heart felt plea, but this lady isn’t healthy. As a sister I am appalled by how we think it is ok to walk around like a ticking time bomb. Kay this woman submitted her photo to be critiqued. If you are new to TheFashionBomb daily this is where you come for fashion news and honest opinions. She isn’t healthy!! PERIOD. There is no way to candy coat that fact. Regarding her style its average at best. When you mix prints Brittney there is usually an element of cohesiveness. The color blocking of the pink, red, gray and beige is attractive. Other than the fact that you look like you are in pain in those heels. Sister did you really put on a red bra top and coolots? The lumps and bumps on her legs are nasty. They look nasty! But NO we are going lie to this chick. Telll her, yeah you work that confidence. Look at Jennifer Hudson and Mo’nique. They knew that Sh#* wasn’t cute. More importantly it’s not healthy. This lady must lead a miserable life. Girlfriend weight watchers work. Give it try!

  49. Claire, looking at all these negative comments about anything other than Brittney being a FashionBomb, should scare most into submitting photos. IMO, it would be nice to remove the comments section off this post and just keep the poll that you have recently added. Ps:: Britney, I love ur style!!!

  50. Kay, i appreciate your heart felt plea, but this lady isn’t healthy. As a sister I am appalled by how we think it is ok to walk around like a ticking time bomb. 51. I like looks 2, 5, and 6.
#1 and #3 were almost doesn’t count moments.
I don’t understand what happened in the others. The bombshells like to experiment and I guess there’s no reward without risk.

  52. Her poor feet in pic one!

    Anyway, love her confidence.
I see some things that work but others are a BIG NO!
Someone that size cannot wear any and everything and that’s a fact

  53. Every viewer of this post is fully aware of their body size and shape. Either you enjoy the fashion or not. Enjoy your life…it allows you to appreciate others.

  54. She looks great! I especially like the all-black look with the leather jacket. Very cute. Great confidence too, and that’s always in style.

  55. She is just far too wide to be wearing horizontal stripes and bodycon She definitely has a sense of style but it’s hard to see past her width.

  56. I love the way she puts her clothes together with the colours and she doesn’t overdo it. The colours work and are not predictable. Good choice of shoes too. I love the way the clothes fit her and she isn’t afraid to experiment with different styles. my fav outfit is the one with the black and white stripe skirt Go girl! : )

  57. Some people really should not be able to post comments..you look fabulous and happy, love it!

  58. I love it when people have the confidence of internet anonymity. For all of you that brought attention to her weight… Guess what? I’m certain she already knows. they do have scales and mirrors in Chicago. Now go on tell us other things that we already know. Like… water is wet and fried food is greasy

  59. This is why i stopped reading the comments here, half of you are hiding behind temp names, no pics, and probably have no style. This isn’t about her weight, she knows what she looks like, and please get a grip. Some of you are just mean, and bitter. She loves herself at this size, and she still manages to look better than a lot of “skinny” people. This isn’t about her weight, it’s about her style.

  60. Love her style. She knows what works well together, less successful on what works best for her shape. @SR called it re: the need for us ALL to dress to our shapes. @Natasha called it w/ the problematic shoe fit. LOVE the pink & red look. The black & white striped skirt seems to be a good length. I’m def inspired by that look. Overall, pretty!

  61. Great execution from one Chicagoan to another! (southside) Im sorry but her vision as far as fashion goes, is better than a lot of smaller girls. Proof of that can be found by looking at past bombs that have failed to deliver. Her style is bold and on point, her audacity and size will make some women insecure lets just call it what it is. Yall are hating! She’s cold, I’m sorry!

  62. I think she looks great. I like her style. The only thing I suggest is for her not to wear mini skirts unless she does slim down some. Her knees are not that attractive so the knee length pencil skirts look best on her figure. Otherwise, I like how she puts things together with color, texture and patterns. Go girl!

  63. OMG! you ladies have to be in middle school, b/c I can’t see a GROWN woman making such childish comments..I think she looks great! and if she wants to lose weight then that’s on her..

  64. Nice clothes and shoes. Can you tell me what type of shaper you’re wearing? Despite working out and dieting my midsection doesn’t allow me to wear certain clothes. Thanks.

Less time on blogs and more time on grammar.
    You’re vs. Your :o/

    LMMFAO!!!!!

  66. Ladies and gents, please stop the cyber bulling! It’s not cool or right. We need to uplift each other with positivity instead of the negative antics. It takes a lot of courage to be featured in these posts and I’m sure when your day comes to be featured, you would want nothing but good wishes and other words of encouragement!

@Brittney: I love the shoe collection and the mixed media coat that you have on. I love the beige and black striped outfit the best too!

  67. I am not a size 2…. I am a 10.
These outfits DO NOT work for her body and I’m just being completley honest. I am not being malicious in the least but I’m sure I will be called everything but the child of God. Some people are in total denial of how they really look in oufits. I’m not telling her to lose weight because she can do whatever she pleases— its her life but this it a fashion blog and I can see where she was trying to go but certain fashions do not look good on all body types. There are plenty of things I can’t wear as much as I would want to, but I know my limitations.
I will give her A++++++ for confidence and a beautiful face.

  68. I don’t understand why people get upset when visitors of this website comment on how big she is. It’s kinda hard to miss… Also by submitting your pictures you are allowing all that may visit the fashionbomb to comment on you and your style. And sorry but weight DOES fit in to that (no pun intended, but there it is).
Don’t ya’ll say that when a slender girl has on a size too small: ‘yo, that’s too small!’. You might not say it while meaning she is fat, but come on! If she thought we were going to sugercoat (no pun again..oh wait anyway) our comments… please this is fashionbomb and we all know the readers here have opinions!

That being said. My own mother is 130 kg about 287 pounds and I find it sad, she doesn’t even look at herself in the mirror. This girl has on some nice clothes but her weight is far more obvious. Girl go get your gym on and try to eat a little less (more water, fruits, veggies and nuts)

  69. I’m sorry but I can’t even see ‘fashion’ because she is larger than anything she could put on. ‘Fashion’ is good, but in this case it is just a deflection of the obvious: you are huge. Your morbid obesity is distracting and will kill you at some point in time.

Just honest, real talk. Stop with the ‘fashion’. Start with the gym.

  70. Some of these comments are ignorant assumptions based on things that the person doesn’t even know… Who says she eats a lot? Who says she isn’t exercising? We are all born different sizes. I eat a lot and don’t exercise but I’m a size 2 and have always been skinny (which I don’t like). She may love herself exactly the way she is now or she may be currently be on a journey to change her body… Either way, she looks fine and ya’ll don’t know what she’s doing. The internet is truly a shallow place…

I voted her a bombshell. I like a lot of the pieces in her wardrobe and they’re not badly styled. I especially like the leather; beaded; and metallic ensembles.

  71. I’m sorry, it is very difficult to see past her weight. We all don’t need to be a size 2 but this girl is morbidly obese.

I agree that her focusing on fashion while she is this big is like putting a bandaid on a bullet hole. Wrong priorities. She looks physically uncomfortable

Yes, this is a fashion blog, but fashion interacts with the body. The body is the canvas. The canvas is an important component of the art.

I don’t say this to make her feel bad, but to say she needs and deserves a healthy body. No amount of weave, make-up, and clothes can camouflage or distract from morbid obesity. I want us all as black women to do better in the health and fitness department…me included
