The Fashion Bomb News Breakdown: Rita Ora Covers Paper Magazine’s April 2014 Issue, Makeup Artist Francesca Tolot Dishes On Doing Beyoncé’s Makeup For More Than A Decade, and Louis Vuitton To Stage Its First Cruise Show In Monte Carlo

  • The Rita Ora train cannot be stopped! The bottled blonde songstress and actress is the cover girl for Paper’s April 2014 issue, on which she sports a Jennifer Behr crown, $1,250 Eddie Borgo Challenge Collar, and Alexander Wang dress. In the article, Rita gushes over supermodel Naomi Campbell who so generously looked after her at the Philipp Plein Fall 2014 show in Milan: “Yeah, me and Naomi Campbell are like best friends… No, I’m joking. She’s so cute. She was looking after me at the [Philipp Plein] show. I was really nervous because I felt fat — everyone was so skinny and tall. So she gave me a pep talk and walked me in. Then we ended up having drinks by the bar and she was being really cool.” What we’d all give for a little face-to-face time with Queen Naomi. (Paper)

  • It’s common knowledge that Beyoncé Knowles is beautiful, but if there were any doubts, her makeup artist of over a decade squashed those in an interview with Into The Gloss. In it, she reveals how one can achieve the star’s “no makeup look”: “She is beautiful, first of all, so even if we have to do a bare look —like for “If I Were A Boy”—there was really practically no makeup there [11]. For that, I use moisturizer and maybe a little bit of concealer and lip balm. I like Amazing Concealer. It’s very intense, very rich. It really covers a big problem if you need it to, and I like that. Otherwise, I really love La Mer The Radiant Concealer. It’s nice—enough coverage, but it’s very moisturizing and it doesn’t dry or crease.” Clearly B stands for beautiful! (Into The Gloss)

  • It’s never too late for a heritage brand to try new things right? Louis Vuitton is one such fashion house, staging a Cruise show for the first time in its 160 year history. Scheduled to take place on May 17th in Monte Carlo, the collection will also mark the debut of an interim show created by newly-appointed Artistic Director Nicolas Ghesquière. The runway presentation has received the royal blessing, as its said to be at the invitation of Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco, who are expected to attend. It’s also smack dab in the middle of the Cannes Film Festival, so expect to see the world’s most stylish ladies in some of the pieces mere days after their catwalk debut. (WWD)

  • Zara does a great job at keeping its on-trend wares affordable, but for all of those who are looking for even more budget-friendly price points, the high-street mega brand does indeed have an outlet store. Lefties has been around since 1993 (unbeknownst to those of us who do not reside in Spain), all the while selling out-of-season and leftover Zara designs. Well, the brand’s parent company, Inditex, is looking to rebrand Lefties: putting it on par with other fast fashion retailers like H&M and Primark with prices that are 30% lower than that of Zara. Unfortunately, Lefties has no plans to expand to the UK or stateside just yet, so you might want to book a flight to Spain in the coming months for a peek at what the outlet store has to offer. Karlie Kloss Show Package FW 14

  • Karlie Kloss has penned a piece for The Daily Beast, discussing her special relationship with famed designer Oscar de la Renta and the great impact he has made on the fashion industry. Here’s a sweet snippet: “For me, meeting Oscar de la Renta was one of those uncaptured but formative moments in my modeling career. Every time I’m with Oscar, he imbues me with the same confidence and ease as on that first day. His mentorship, kindness, and friendship continue to guide and inform my approach to life.” There’s more to the fashion world than just Miranda Priestly-esque characters ladies and gents!
