The Fashion Bomb News Breakdown: CFDA Adds 30 New Members, Roland Mouret and Banana Republic Collection Available August 7th, and Beyoncé to Appear on 50 Shades of Gray Soundtrack


  • Liya Kebede, Marc Alary, Jonathan Simkhai and Whit’s Whitney Pozgay were amongst the 30 designers added to the CFDA this year. The new designers will bring the total membership to 478, and will be celebrated this Fall with a fabulous fete. (Daily Front Row)

  • Beyonce has recently announced that she will appear in the “Fifties Shades of Grey” movie… sort of.  The Forbes Most Powerful artist released an Instagram clip featuring a trailer of the movie with her moaning at the end of a slowed down version of “Crazy in Love.” She is expected to be on the movie’s soundtrack.  (Boston)

  • While the brand has been undergoing some recent changes, Jil Sander has reported heavy losses for 2013.  With the founder having most recently left for the third time, the brand plans on letting go about 50 employees to manage the loss of 14.6 million euros.  The brand recently named Rodolfo Paglialunga as the creative director.   • Starting August 7th, Roland Mouret will launch his capsule collection for Banana Republic online.  With prices from $49.50 to $165, the collection range from cropped sweaters to sheath dresses and pencil skirts.  Does it sound like something you would want to add to your closet? (Vogue)

  • The trailer for Bertrand Bonello’s Saint Laurent biopic has surfaced online, sadly all in French.  Featuring Gaspard Ulliel and Lea Secoux, the film isn’t officially approved by Pierre Berge, Laurent’s life partner, but will be released anyway.  Is this a must-see for you?
