The Fashion Bomb News Breakdown: Pat McGrath and Phoebe Philo Receive New Year’s Honors, Forever 21 to Launch Premium Footwear, and Cara Delevingne Stars in Mulberry Spring 2014 Campaign

• Congratulations are in order for Pat McGrath, who received an MBE (that’s Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) as part of the Queen’s New Year’s Honors for her work in the fashion and beauty industries. McGrath has worked with more designers, celebrities, and magazines than you can shake a stick at, and is currently the design director for Procter & Gamble beauty. According to the Telegraph, the English-born McGrath got her start in makeup when her Jamaican mother would take her around town to find makeup that would work with their deep skin tones. Los Angeles stores will be stocked with the shoes starting January 3rd, and the collection will be in all Forever 21 stores by January 10th. (WWD)

Max Mara has joined forces with yarn company Saluzzo Yarn for a sustainable line to be produced under the Weekend Max Mara label. The four-piece range is made of Saluzzo’s Newlife yarn, a polyester material crafted from recycled plastic bottles. Dazed Digital has a graph charting rap music’s most mentioned luxury brands, and (surprise, surprise) Gucci takes the #1 spot, followed by Versace. In recent years, there has been an uptick in mention of brands like Givenchy, Lanvin, Tom Ford, Margiela, Balenciaga, and Alexander Wang. At least rappers are diversifying their taste!
