The Fashion Bomb New Breakdown: American Eagle Aerie’s “Real Beauty” Campaign, Prada’s Spring 2014 Campaign Video, and Kate Moss is The Face of Alexander McQueen’s Spring 2014 Ads

American Eagle Aerie Real Beauty Campaign

American Eagle‘s Aerie ads for Spring 2014 are the latest to champion natural beauty. The John Urbano-lensed campaign featured unretouched models posing in lingerie. You’re able to see all the folds, creases, stretch marks, scars, and tattoos of the models, like you would in any other picture. “The girl in this photo has not been retouched,” the ads read. “The real you is sexy. #aerieReal.”  Aerie’s chief merchandising officer Jennifer Foyle says the point of the campaign is to show women they’re gorgeous just how they naturally are: “The purpose of aerie Real is to communicate there is no need to retouch beauty, and to give young women of all shapes and sizes the chance to discover amazing styles that work best for them. We want to help empower young women to be confident in themselves and their bodies.” It’s a great idea, but still kind of unfortunate that retouching has gotten so out of hand, it’s a big deal when a retailer doesn’t airbrush their ads into oblivion. • Bet you’ve never seen a crowd of spectators this gorgeous and well-dressed. Prada has released the Steven Meisel-lensed video for their Spring 2014 campaign, in which the models are cast as a group of spectators observing and reacting to various spectacles (movies, a tennis match, a concert).Check it out above. Swarovski has announced the designers that they’ve chosen for their Fall 2014 Design Collective. This year’s crop of 15 designers includes Prabal Gurung, Anthony Vaccarello, Alexis Mabille, and more. Swarovski has also added three new designers to their collective: J.Mendel and Oscar de la Renta alum Brandon SunFyodor Golan, and Tex Saverio. (WWD)

Kate Moss is 40, has been a top model for as long as we can remember, and is still achieving milestone firsts in her already-successful career. The model’s been tapped for the very first time to front Alexander McQueen‘s spooky spring 2014 campaign, photographed by Steven Klein. The shots, inspired by the 1960  thriller “Peeping Tom” show a brooding Moss, complete with a bright yellow toxic-waste-colored coif. (WWD)
