So as Danielle mentioned in her Weekend Beauty Roundup, she and I finally met this weekend!
We had lots of fun eating Mac n’ Cheese at Cafeteria and chatting. Afterwards, we popped into a few Chelsea boutiques, ogling vintage Christian Louboutins and trying on Eugenia Kim hats. While I was able to resist temptation at Barney’s Coop and Zara, I stopped short when I saw a faux fur vest at Club Monaco. After a few twirls in the mirror and a little egging on from Danielle (“You must buy it!“) I did! I’ve worn it quite a bit…with a black dress for a night out and with a white button down and jeans for brunch with friends. Though I’ve found a few ways to rock it, I’ve been looking for more outfit ideas to make it pop.
I was instantly inspired when I stumbled across a shot of Anna de Rijk for Vogue Nippon photographed by Inez van Lamsweerde, Vinoodh Matadin, and George Cortina:
The key to wearing a fur vest is to make sure your accompanying outfit is pretty uniform and simple so that the vest can stand out on its own. While denim on denim can make some go ‘hmmmm,’ it can be done well if the denim is dark wash (not stone blasted or acid streaked). Accent a brown fur vest with chocolate accessories. For mine, I’d go for dark brown booties and a plush brown bag, accented with a large men’s watch and gold hoops:
