Monday nights in New York city are a lot like Saturday nights in most parts of the world, as the media industry takes on the town for various soirées and booze fueled events. Last night, I had two parties on my schedule–a Nuvo Official Launch Party Hosted by Rosa Acosta and Draya Michele and Gabrielle Union’s birthday party at the Dream–so I slipped on a comfy striped leather sleeve dress by Cut 25, then tried my hand at mixing prints by slipping on a blue printed cardigan from Zara (previously worn here):

For some reason the look was giving me a Parisian/Cher from Clueless vibe, so I added a knit beret from J.Crew, Stuart Weitzman Knee High Boots, and my go-to Givenchy Nightingale.

I’ve been dreaming of stiletto nails, so went for it yesterday. Still don’t know how I feel about the blue crackle, though the length is kinda fun (except when I have to type, text, or do basically anything):

For the actual parties, I ditched the jacket and rocked the dress on its own:

What do you prefer, with the jacket or without?
Fashion Bomb photographer Marta couldn’t stick around for the actual festivities, though I did snag a few pictures on my Iphone (natch):

It was a fun night!

Thoughts on my mixed print moment?

  1. WERK CLAIRE!! I love the whole look but especially covet your bag & boots =) Looks like a good time was had.

  2. WERK BISH!!! I love that you are having more fun with your looks but still keeping the classy and tailored Claire aesthetic we all know and love.

  3. Claire you look too cute! I love everything abt it. The outfit looked great with and without the jacket! Great job!

  4. you look amazing (as usual). The crackle polish is neither here or there. I do think tho that if your doing stilettos simplicity is key as you are already calling attention. Where as any other length of nails the crackle really shines.

  5. Thx y’all! The crackle seemed like a good idea, but no ma’am! I’m gonna go for something a bit more vampy, maybe an oxblood red. LOL. But seriously, yes definitely a darker color. Stay tuned! xoxo

  6. I love this look on you absolutely gorgeous. You definitely have the legs for it (I’m jealous). I like the jacket with it but the dress by itself looks fashionable. The jacket does give the Cher look but you make it look sexier with a grown lady vibe…. I just can’t get over how great your legs look.

  7. Looking great Claire!!! I kinda hate your boots though, but that’s just me. Overall good loook, your greatest accessory is your smile.

  8. You looked great Claire. I love both combo with and without the jacket. I have to tell you that your Claire’s Life pots are some of my favorites. Keep it up mademoiselle. Merci. Love this site. I am on it everyday.

  9. I likey! Very classic dope girl fresh.. with the earrings and blonde braids. Everyone looks good and lively ; )

  10. You look so chic and fantastic. I agree with Lola you still kept your classic aesthetic but the print mixing pumped it up. I always love your looks

  11. Your outfit is cute but your hair is not…You should pick a better style, that style is not becoming at all. You are a cute lady but your hair takes away from your looks…it makes you look unpolished and kind of dare I say cheap. I’m not trying to be mean I just wanted to honest and state my opinion. Im sorry if I offend you but I would rather someone be honest with me than flat out lie although everyone has different style and taste, I just think this takes away from the best you…jmo

  12. … again i say if you are busty watch out for wearing high necklines.. it can make you look top heavy….

  13. I love the dress alone. I am not a big fan of the 2 prints together…the hat or the boots!! Maybe a cute pair of pumps. I would have done an extremely high ponytail with those gorgeous braids. Your accessories are on point too!!

  14. knee high boots were made for you Claire, your legs look great in them, and I like the outfit better with the jacket for you.

  15. I like the dress Claire! I actually like it with or without the jacket. I’m not feeling the big braid boo…

  16. I live for the sleeves on that dress and the print is on.
I usually like your braids, but them all together in one huge side braid was not a good look. It was just too thick. It reminded me of a Cabbage Patch Doll. I must say I loved the beret though… And of course the legs are killer! Thanks for sharing your life with us-looked like fun!

  17. You looked GREAT from head to toe! W/o the jacket is more fun. W/ = more conservative. You worked it either way!

  18. Cute looks! Also, congrats on the photo in Glamour! I was shocked and happy to see a familiar face in the pages! You totally need to big that up on the site!

  19. You have awesome legs n they look killer.however the look for me is an overall miss. I like where you were going with the mixed print idea but I tgink the prints were too similar to each other in style. I love that you were in on the leather sleeve trend but I this feature didn’t standout perhaps because of the busy pattern. Didn’t love the boots or the side braid either. A nice black platform pump , sky high would have been better
