I’ve hit the ground running in New York, attending a flurry of holiday parties and fun get togethers!

My first event was a bloggers dinner at Lavo sponsored by Cavi, a cool brand of military inspired shirts for men and sophisticated, fashion forward separates for women. They brought together Eileen of Miss Whoever You Are,Wendy of Nitrolicous, Niki of The Frisky, and more to educate us on the brand and their plans for Holiday and Spring/Summer 2011.

On the forecast for Cavi: delicious faux fur vests, reversible harem pants, and classic shift dresses with fun lace details for women; vests, puffers, and rugged jeans for men. The best part about Cavi might have to be the prices, which range from $40-$70:

At any rate I had a lot of fun learning about the brand and will check it out in person at Macy’s. You guys can also check it out at www.cavinyc.com.

Smootches!

*I wore a dress from Rent the Runway, a cool service that allows you to rent any number of dresses for 4 days at a time. It’s perfect if you have tons of events to attend, but don’t want to blow your bank account. More on that later:)

  1. cant believe you posing with that girl from nitrolicious, shes the same person who said she thought and always mistakes tyson for tyrese, then when readers went crazy she removed it. she posted her comment on twitter and her blog.. she was bragging(think she was being cute) about who she met, while making that racist comment.. she dont get all black people dont look alike, maybe she thought you was someone else.

  2. @kimmm Ah, I didn’t know about her Tyson/Tyrese comment, maybe I missed that when I was in Europe. She seemed cool when I met her and even admitted to moderating people making racist comments about her on her blog.

  3. I don’t know about anyone leaving her racist comments but I definitely don’t feel her as a blogger or person. Personally, I think bloggers should be truthful (like you) in representing who they are. That girl from Nitrolicious wants people to think she’s a “younger” girl and she’s actually 30ish. It’s not fair to younger bloggers or her readers (me) who were misled. She posted that she was 20 on her lookbook account smh.

  4. @Ohlala Good point. I’ve noticed lots of bloggers get younger over the years versus older. I think it’s because most people equate blogging with a younger set, and once you’re ‘grown’ it might be like, ‘you blog, really?’
At any rate y’all are giving me the tea, I had no idea about any of the above!

  5. All these comments about the Nitrolicious girl has me curious about her blog, but I don’t think the link is correct in the above. When I click it, it’s taking me to a strange site that’s selling clothes and shoes. Just an FYI.

  6. Yep Claire, tea indeed, but the truth nonetheless. The blog in general is very informative but I appreciate a ‘real’ blogger or author for that matter. It just makes your readers that much closer to you. I mean come on…who likes fake people? Just keep doing what you are doing because I have mad respect for you and your wonderful blog!!

  7. it didnt happen too long ago maybe sometime around or before summer(cant remember). u should have asked her why she thinks people leaves those comments. it cause of what she says, eg she mention she dont go past uptown/downtown (one of them) when she went to the harlem target opening. then when readers reacted she made a lame excuse. i love your blog cause it is an authentic home type of feel/vibe, especially like how i have never been to ny. so i visit new york through your site, and get a real experience as if i live there.
