I’m here in Atlanta, recovering from a whirlwind weekend at the BET Hip Hop Awards!
As I mentioned here, it was my first awards show, and I was super juiced to cover the Red Carpet for Fashion Bomb Daily!
While I thought I’d get to ask everyone a litany of questions, the reality was: There were a lot of outlets there, so we all had to compete for interviews. I was standing close to MTV News and Bossip, and most celebs would speak to them then skip over little ol me. LOL.
So I decided to get whatever videos I could…
And take selfies/pix if nothing else:
It worked out well!
At any rate, I asked most people who they were wearing (at least), so here’s a quick rundown:
106 & Park’s very own Shad Moss looked dapper in a custom black on black creation, topped off by red Givenchy sneakers.
Tiny looked absolutely adorable in an AQ/AQ plunge neck dress and Christian Louboutin Fifi Boots.
Isn’t Porsha Williams gorgeous? She hit the carpet in a sparkling blush pink Gucci Jumpsuit.
Real Husbands Hollywood star Erica Ash set Instagram ablaze with her hot pink Oliver Jung dress. What do you think, Hot! or Hmm..?
Young Joc mixed high and low in an H&M sweatshirt and a Versace medallion.
Ne-Yo jazzed up denim separates with bright red Giuseppe Zanotti ski buckle sneakers.
Songstress Brianna Perry slipped on form fitting Joe’s Jeans leggings with DSquared2 wedge sneakers.
Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker made it a family affair, bringing Riley to her first awards show.
Kandi looked slick in all black leather, accessorized by a Stella McCartney Zip Clutch and Giuseppe Zanotti chain trim boxer booties.
Like many men on the red carpet, 2 Chainz offset his all black look with Versace accessories, namely a foulard scarf.
Lil Mama layered a one shoulder dress over leather pants. You can’t see it in the pic, but her makeup was pure perfection.
Busta Rhymes and friends looked quite snazzy. Bussa Buss loves a Givenchy tee, so slipped on a Painterly Columbian Print crewneck by the brand.
Erica Mena kept it cute in an ensemble by Toure Designs.
Gotta admit, Mimi Faust looked pretty fabulous in a Bill Hallman black dress, BCBG belt, and Giuseppe Zanotti peep toes.
A resounding ‘Yasssss‘ goes to Wendy Raquel Robinson, who had one of the best looks of the evening in a House of Chapple ensemble. I might have to scoop this up before I head back to NYC. Hot!
Mila J also made my best dressed list in a vintage Gaultier dress and Saint Laurent Jane sandals in black suede. This young lady is piping hot!
TI skewed casual in Akoo.
Nelly also went for laid back in a velour sweatsuit and Jordans.
Don’t shoot me, but I liked Joseline Hernandez’s Herve Leger Spring 2014 fringed dress. Am I alone?
And lastly, the night’s MC, Snoop Dogg/Lion, wore a shirt boasting his own glorious visage.
As for me, I wore pieces from the Target x Altuzarra collection, namely their Python Blouse and Python skirt.
I accessorized with gold cuffs, gold rings, and my painful Christian Louboutin nude So Kate pumps.
At any rate, it was fun, but working the red carpet is WERK. Getting all those ids is no joke!
But it was a great training ground, and now I’m ready to tackle my next carpet!

I think Atlanta needs a few more stylists who understand proper fit. Some of the outfits do not fit the person wearing them. The fringe dress is one on my list of No-No fits. It looks terrible on her. LIl Mama’s one shoulder outfit also dwarfs her and makes her look like she’s playing dress-up.
I won’t even get started on the guys. But overall, yuck. At least 2 Chainz attempted a little something with his duds. I’m gonna need you to do better boys.
That’s “I’m gonna need you to do better, boys”. Otherwise the meaning is so wrong.

Clair, your look is amazing, however, the shoes … it looks like your pinky toe wants to pop out :( I don’t know, maybe it’s the way the shoes are made.
Its time to retire those nude CLs. At this point their taking away from the polish of the entire look.
Erica and Wendy were the best dressed red carpet all other looked trashy….
Claire you look lovely, that Altuzzura collection isn’t bad at all in person. BUT, perhaps those CL’s should rest a bit. Your toes look tortured and they hurt….por que? You know more than anyone there’s a zillion other options.

Miss Wendy looks beautiful and classy, & Ms. Hernandez baby’s dress probably is cute, but not with her stuffed into it.

Claire, I love this look on you !!! Great ‘fit for the occasion. On another note I just cannot with Joseline’s lace front. I do love her dress though. Kandi and her family look cute.

I loved your look the most, followed by Wendy showing us how to WERK at 47, and I thought Tiny looked cute too.
Now Ms. Claire, you and these So Kate’s that are causing you pain, have you tried to stretch them?.. Foot Petals has stretchers for stilettos and a good stretch solution from your cobbler should do the trick. I normally opt for CL Very Prive, Ala Peche or Zappa because of the slightly and I do mean slightly more generous toe box. But I have a pair of CL booties that gave me nightmares but after the stretching process they are as comfortable as a gucci, YSL or Manolo which all rate pretty high on the comfort chart. It’s worth a try not like you are going to toss your So Kate’s.
