Kelis is in Cannes! She performed at the Abu Dhabi Digital Domain Event at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. She wore a pair of lace-up strappy satin pumps and a $74 ASOS Sequin Stripe Midi Dress:
These days she’s rocking longer curls and Kelis continued the color trend with coral lips.
Her stretch tube-style dress features a sheer mesh overlay, rainbow sequin embellished stripes, and a a plunge v-back.
Drooling over this dress! I personally wouldn’t have rocked those shoes, but Kelis does whatever she wants when it comes to style, which is one of the reasons I have admired her for so long.
*Not sure of the make of her heels, but they look an awful lot like a black version of these $130 Bedroom Antics shoes she wore to perform at LA Pride back in 2010, don’t they?
Kelis flaunted a curly coiffe and a floral asymmetrical dress at “Ditch Fridays” held at the Palms Pool & Bungalows in Las Vegas, buttressed by the same $2,870 pair of Nicholas Kirkwood for Rodarte Spring 2011 Gold Wedge Sandals previously spied on both Solange Knowles and June Ambrose:
While both Kelis and Solange went for bright prints, with Solange opting for a fall ready Mary Katrantzou frock and Kelis in a pastel tinged asymmetrical number, June allowed the heels to shine on their own with a white keyhole shift.
The Spring 2011 heels came in both gold and a blue/white pattern, with a gilded carved wedge heel to boot.
This is a toughie!! I think all the ladies worked the shoes in their own way. If given a rack with all three outfits, though, I’d probably pick Solange’s look to rock on my own.
What about you?

*This post was updated after its original publication to include June Ambrose. Thx Syreeta!
*June sent us this picture, showcasing a few more times she’s worn the wedges:
If you follow me on Twitter, you already know I’ve been having a fantastic time at London Fashion Week!
From shows to parties to Real Style, the UK has a lot to offer, and is definitely a must stop for any fashionista.
Here are a few highlights from my short trip:
A few days ago, after hitting up the Topshop Unique and Peter Jensen shows (reviews on Vogue.it), I went to the Mulberry party where I ran into Kelis. The consummate fashionista is in town performing, and was attending a few shows during the day. She admired my Peace Images Fandango earrings (I first wore them here), then agreed to take a pic. She was super sweet!
The party itself had an English seaside theme, replete with stuffed animals, ice cream, and fun hors d’oevres like fish & chips, hamburgers, and hot dogs.
My friends and I took a quick pic with a few new animal friends….
Then we called it a night!
The next day I attended the Burberry show (review to come):
The high wattage show took place at Kensington Gardens in an expansive venue replete with sky lights:
Apparently Kanye West was in the house, though I couldn’t spy him from my vantage point (I was in the nosebleed section. Lol).
At any rate, I was super excited to see Trav & Josh of Street Etiquette afterwards:
The two are in town care of Tumblr, and have been shooting fun style diaries all over town. Stay tuned to their blog (www.streetetiquette.com) and their tumblr (www.streetetiquette.tumblr.com) for the scoop.
And that does it!
I update my own Tumblr www.xoxoclaire.com pretty frequently with pix of what I’m up to, so check it out! Also, follow me on Twitter for the blow-by-blow.
I’m off to Milan tomorrow. Can’t wait!
Smootches!
I never thought I’d see the day when Kelis and I wore the same item.
The bossiest was spied in LA wearing a $30 Gemma Bodysuit by Motel along with a pleated leather mini:
She finished her look with cut out shoe boots, a Vivienne Westwood Nero Chancery Heart bag, and a peek of a purple bra.
The top features a V-neck style collar, doily inspired applique patches all-over, and built-in shoulder pads.
This is how I rocked mine:
I opted for a black Topshop panel bodycon mini and Jeffrey Campbell Tick Open Toe Booties:)
If you want the top, it’s super affordable! Get it at www.djpremium.com.
Kelis attended the launch party for Matthew Williamson’s Impulse Collection For Macy’s in quite an inventive outfit:
She wore a Matthew Williamson dress over a long sleeved black shirt, anchored by purple tights with what look like miniature toy attachments. She accessorized with a top hat, dangling gold earrings, gold bangles, layered gold necklaces, and a wide black belt.
Kelis usually knocks it out of the park, but this look? Hmmm….
What do you think?
Kelis recently hit up Tao Nightclub in Vegas wearing a funky headpiece, $930 Giuseppe Zanotti sandals, a Prada metallic stripe bag, and a striped pits-out dress and mirrored bolero by Fashion Bomb favorite Brian Lichtenberg: She completed the look with gold stacked bangles, a black leather bracelet, and a rose pink mani/pedi. She’s bossy!
Kelis’ outfit and bag aren’t currently available for purchase, but you can cop her Zanotti’s here.
Visit www.brianlichtenberg.com and www.prada.com for price and buying information on her outfit and bag, respectively.
What do you think of Kelis’ night club look?
Kelis was spied leaving a Burlesque show at the Roxy Club in LA wearing a red velvet blazer, sheer shirt, patterned leggings, and wedge buckled booties:
She accented the look with a Chanel cross body bag, chunky gold jewels, and red lipstick:
Ya know what, it’s quirky, but I like it. Who else could pull these disparate pieces into one cohesive ensemble?
What do you think?
I recently caught Kelis‘ video for her single 4th of July, and was blown away by her scintillating style choices.
Kelis gyrates to her techno driven song in everything from one shoulder gold sequined dresses with high slits to white fringed gowns worn with Native American inspired headpieces:
Kelis can go a little over the top at times, but in this video she was spot on. Her lashes were poppin, her face was beat, and her wardrobe married disco and funk–perfect for you to try in these last days of summer.
