Black History Fashion Trend : Kanye West Shutter Shades

    by Claire

Whatever you thoughts on Kanye West, it’s hard to ignore the contributions he  has made to fashion. Aside from launching Louis Vuitton sneakers and Nike Air Yeezy’s, he started a relatively short lived, yet undeniable trend: Shutter Shades.

The visibility impairing, seemingly impractical sunnies were the highlight of Ye’s 2008 Glow in the Dark tour, and created a literal fury with absolutely everyone rocking the shades in a rainbow of colors:

Of course Kanye didn’t create this look in a vacuum, and was undoubtedly influenced by Sho’Nuff, the Sho’Gun of Harlem from the 1985 cult flick The Last Dragon:
No matter his inspiration, it was Kanye who made the look mainstream and ridiculously popular, if only for a 6 month time span.

Did you own a pair of shutter shades?
Check out these videos to reminisce:

Men’s Fashion Flash : Christian Louboutin Sneakers and Loafers

    by Claire

Louboutin clearly has the ladies on lock, and now he’s moving on to the fellas, wooing them with his eye catching designs.

Swizz Beatz and Reggie Bush were spotted in Miami this past weekend showing off a new pair of Louboutin studded sneaks.

Kanye West took in a few Parisian fashion shows in a pair of Louboutin’s Rollerball Loafers.

And Pharrell has been snapped in Louboutin’s studded white sneakers.

Of course, like anything else Louboutin, these babies are très expensive. If you’ve got it like that, purchase a few pairs below:

    Guys, what do you think?

Men’s Fashion Flash : Kanye West’s Givenchy Embellished Plaid Shirt

    by Claire

Kanye showed he took copious notes during the menswear shows in Paris, wearing a straight off the runway Givenchy Embellished Plaid Shirt for the “We are the World” recording session in Hollywood:

The blinged out button down is certainly a splurgeworthy purchase, but you can get the ‘everyman’ version for less with these relatively less shiny picks:

As an aside, doesn’t this sorta seem like a random assortment of singers? Can Kanye sing? Maybe his voice just faded into the background. Any any rate, snaps for convening for a worthy cause.

Kanye West Doesn’t Care For Fashion Bloggers

    by Claire

Someone royally pissed Kanye off this time!

According to a deleted post on this blog, Kanye seems to think us bloggers spend more time writing about fashion than living it. He says:
“IT’S FUNNY TO ME WHEN FASHION BLOGGERS DOWN OUR OUTFITS AND THEN SUPER JOCK OUTLANDISH SH*T ON THE RUNWAY BUT THEN THEY DRESS MAD PRUDE AND DON’T LIVE FASHION. WE LIVE IT MAN. F*CK THAT, WE LIVE IT!!! WE LIVE IT SO HARD PEOPLE LIVE THROUGH US! WE REPRESENT YOUR INNER SPIRIT!! THE CHILD IN US ALL, THE BRUTAL HONESTY, THE NAIVETY, THE BRAVE WARRIOR, THE ADRENALINE THAT ALLOWS A MOTHER TO LIFT A CAR IF HER CHILD WAS TRAPPED UNDER IT! REMEMBER, THERE WAS A TIME WHEN EVERYBODY DISSED MICHAEL JACKSON EVERY CHANCE THEY COULD. IMAGINE THE PRESSURE OF BEING A TRUE ICON. VERY FEW HUMAN BEINGS ARE STRONG ENOUGH TO TAKE CONSTANT HATE!!! IF WE DON’T DO WHAT YOU FEEL IS THE SH*T, YOU BEAT US UP VERBALLY AND MENTALLY, LIKE A CATHOLIC SCHOOL TEACHER BEATING A CREATIVE STUDENT INTO SUBMISSION. I CAN HEAR YOU SCREAMING ‘COLOR INSIDE THE LINES!!!’ WELL F*CK YOUR COLORING BOOK, COLOR BY NUMBERS APPROACH TO LIFE. AT THE END OF THE DAY WHO ARE WE HURTING??? OH “THE NEW BLACK???” SINCE BARACK IS PRESIDENT BLACKS DON’T LIKE FUR COATS, RED LEATHER, AND FRIED CHICKEN ANY MORE?”

Kanye clearly doesn’t read the Fashion Bomb, who named him most Fashionable Male of 2009 and supports and features him almost on a daily basis!

Seriously guys, celebrities seem to only be drawn to the negativity! Instead of focusing on those who support them, they lash out on all of us because of the minority who don’t?

And in response, I say: All bloggers are not the same. You don’t have to dress outlandishly or wear the latest $5,000 Louis Vuitton mink bum bag to be stylish (there’s chic in subtlety). People contribute to fashion in different ways through different mediums, and none are necessarily better or worse than the other. And as Chanel said, “Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” We all live fashion.

*And for the record, the Fashion Bomb loves Kanye and supports all types of creative, artistic expression.

Men’s Fashion Flash : Kanye West’s Shiny Accessories

    by Claire

Upscale Hype always seems to have the scoop on Kanye’s pricey picks, and recently id’ed Ye’s $385 Lanvin Way Shiner Sunglasses along with his $1,000 Rollerball Christian Louboutin Loafers:

The music aficionado certainly loves shiny, pretty, expensive things.

Get the Lanvin sunglasses here and find retail locations for the Loubies here.
