Within the last few years it seems scores and scores of more Black women are opting for wearing their hair in its natural state. Though it’s funny to call the way our hair grows out of our heads a “trend”, there does seem to be a following towards kinkier and curlier styles.
Thanks to the ever popular hair how-to videos on sites like Youtube, saying things like “I don’t know how to take care of my natural hair” are now moot points. Companies that make products that cater to curly or kinky hair seem to sprout up just as fast as Krispy Kreme chains did back in the early to mid 2000s (sorry, I always have to reference a snack *smh*).
But would we call this a trend? Are people going sans relaxer because kinks are “cute”?
And is this a good thing or a bad thing?
One of my natural friends even joked and said her once unique tresses are now so common that she may as well go back to a relaxer.
So what are your thoughts?
