No, she’s not a doll, though she has been rightfully compared to Barbie. This stunner is none other than Duckie Thot, a Sudanese model by way of Australia, and she’s been on everyone’s radar since the beginning of the year. From British Vogue’s Edward Enninful to Rihanna, the big wigs are clamoring to work with her. But her road to success wasn’t paved without its hardships. This ebony skinned beauty started her modeling journey on Australia’s Next Top Model. But even after ending the competition as a runner-up, Thot admits finding work in Australia was a challenge because of her complexion. Instead of letting rejection get the best of her, she sought modeling opportunities across the globe. Since making the decision to leave Australia behind, Thot’s career has been on the upswing.  She’s covered Paper Magazine and stunted in editorials for Vogue Japan and W Magazine. She’s also sauntered down quite a few runways since last year, showcasing wares the likes of Ulyana Surgeenko, Jeremy Scott, Dsquared2, Helmut Lang, and of course, Fenty x Puma.

It doesn’t stop there for this Australian-Sudanese import. She’s one of the faces for new cosmetics powerhouse Fenty Beauty, and her foundation shade (490) is almost always sold out.

Obvious gorgeousness aside, Duckie Thot’s resilience and perseverance in the face of an industry so cutthroat is something to be lauded. She didn’t give in to defeat, and after transplanting to New York City, she’s carving out quite the modeling career for herself, and we can’t wait to see what else she has in store.
