• Accessories Lust: Olympia Le Tan Book Clutches

If you’re a woman after my own heart, you always have a book in your handbag, whether it be a paperback novel or digital on your Kindle or e-reader. Parisian designer Olympia Le Tan is now turning some of our favorite literature into showstopping clutches.

Olympia has art in her genes, as she is the daughter of French illustrator Pierre Le-Tan, meaning that design and books were a household staple. She honed her skills at art school in Paris and at the young age of 19, she began work for Karl Lagerfeld in Chanel’s design studio. She then collaborated with Balmain, as well as serving as a DJ at some of fashion’s hottest parties, not unlike Solange Knowles and DJ Kiss do today. In 2009, she launched her first “You Can’t Judge A Book By Its Cover” book clutch collection and “It” girls the world over have been grabbing for her handbags ever since.

From Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye to Moravia’s L’Amour Coniugale, there is truly something for every book aficionado. Not only will you turn heads, but you will definitely start some serious conversations so do your reading before you purchase!

Being stylish and smart are not mutually exclusive, but sometimes people need a bit of a reminder and these clutches are just the things to do that.

They will set you back a pretty penny, retailing between $1120 – $1420. Stack your coins and check them out at www.modaoperandi.com, www.colette.fr, and www.olympialetan.com.
