The 2014 CFDA Awards are going down in NYC with our favorite stylish stars, models, and designers in attendance. Rihanna will be receiving the Icon Award, but her look will be just one of many stylish ensembles for the evening.
Let’s see what they wore shall we?
After Elevator-Gate, Solange Knowles was back in full and fashionable force in a shimmering Calvin Klein number that fit her figure perfectly. Give us glamour Solo!
Suno is known for their punchy prints and whimsical silhouettes — heavily influenced by Africa. For the night, the brand dressed the most beautiful woman in the world, Lupita Nyong’o, in a colorful striped crop top and culottes. I was not onboard with Lupita’s hair choice for the night, but the rest of the look was a success!
If you need lessons on how to do this whole fashion thing, you can start and stop with Naomi Campbell. Metallics were a trend for the night and she put a supermodel spin on them in an iridescent embellished gown. This is why she’s the Queen of the Catwalk ladies and gents!
I am literally speechless every time I see Iman. She definitely turned a few heads in her colorblock Juan Carlos Obando look. He is slowly, but surely becoming one of my favorite designers and I’m happy to see that celebs love his pieces just as much as I do!
Joan Smalls did what supermodels do…look flawless. Her sultry Prabal Gurung gown was tailored to perfection.
Chanel Iman has been owning the red carpet lately hasn’t she? She worked it again in a sexy Monique Lhuillier beaded gown.
Jennifer Hudson served asymmetry and some décolletage for the night in a KaufmanFranco piece. The brand does glitz and glam effortlessly, thus I wish J.Hud gave a bit more sparkle and shine here.
Chrissy Teigen has had a flawless run in the fashion department this year and she added another stylish notch to her belt in a coral blazer and a matching laser-cut overlay dress from Rachel Roy. The reason why John wrote “All Of Me” number 2675.
Rachel Roy is hands down one of the most beautiful women in fashion, and the romance of her floral gown was undeniable. A bone to pick: no more black blazers! We’ve seen the Instagram pics Mrs. Roy…your body is flawless. Flaunt it a bit more will you?
Liya Kebede showed just how chic a white blouse and embroidered pencil skirt could be in Wes Gordon.
Tyson Beckford repped for the fellas in a simple tux. Is this man fine or what?
Few do all-American on the level of Michael Kors and Blake Lively looked like a 60’s princess in a pink silk headband and green and pink beaded mini dress from the brand. This was cute, but I definitely love Blake in more sultry ensembles.
Red is a definite power color and Alessandra Ambrosio definitely looked fierce in the hue in a silk strapless Nonoo gown.
Nina Garcia is one of my favorite stylish editors and she successfully pulled off a pants look in a sheer embellished top and high-waist trousers.
Donna Karan has had quite a few va-va-voom red carpet looks this year, but she designed something a bit more delicate and romantic for Heidi Klum. Her wispy peach look has me in the mood for Summer.
Chartreuse is quite a tricky color to pull off, but Emmy Rossum wore it well in a lace-inset design from J. Mendel. The girl is gorgeous…she’d look great in just about anything.
I live for Olsen moments and the twins sported matching black ensembles with statement-making footwear while picking up the Accessories Designers of the Year award. From Full House to high-fashion…who would have guessed?
If there’s anyone who understands the importance of a perfect red carpet look, it’s Rachel Zoe. She did not disappoint in a gilded one-shoulder gown from her own collection.
Jenna Lyons is one of the world’s purveyors of cool and she lived up to her title in a contrast lapel blazer and floral print trousers.
I am usually head over heels in love with Olivia Palermo’s sartorial choices, but I can’t say I was blown away by her black fur-accented top and fringe detailed pencil skirt. Nevertheless, she’s stunning, so there’s always that!
The buzz about Rosie Assoulin has been palpable in the industry this year, thus I was pleasantly surprised to see her dress one of my favorite actresses for the night, Keri Russell. I quite liked her colorblocked draped gown for the evening.
Marc Jacobs usually opts for daring looks while out and about, but he kept it streamlined in an expertly-tailored tux.
I don’t believe any woman can ever go wrong with DVF and Dree Hemingway agrees with me! She sported a slinky printed dress from the brand, giving the look a pop of color with coral lips. Hot!
Can you believe Olivia Wilde had a baby not too long ago? She looked radiant in a black fringe gown from Decades.
Jessica Stam was a vision in a white peplum top with keyhole detailing and matching wide-leg trousers. Simple and chic at its finest.
I loved Anne V’s textured blouse and printed culottes from Jonathan Simkhai, but I don’t think they packed enough punch for the night.
Christian Siriano has never been one for modest design and he certainly brought the drama with Coco Rocha’s look.
Marion Cotillard is a Dior devotee, thus it wasn’t surprising to see her wear a dress from the French fashion house. I’m not sure the white floral embroidered grid dress was the most flattering choice, but the CFDA Awards are about fashion and nothing embodies that better than an offbeat dress from one of the globe’s most well-known brands.
Whitney Port stuck to the classic color palette of black and white in a Dennis Basso dress.
2 Broke Girls star Beth Behrs surely made a few girls green with envy in her crop top and full maxi skirt in the shade by Alice + Olivia. I’d wear this right now!
Model Alana Zimmer put an interesting spin on my favorite silhouette, opting for a custom Yigal Azrouël Silk Charmeuse Jumpsuit with a wrap back gardine blazer, python leather combo baguette bag from the brand, and python mesh sandals.
I’m always in awe of Diane von Furstenberg’s beauty, talent, and amazing career, and she looked amazing in a printed number from her own brand.
Donna Karan continues to defy all norms of aging! She gave Marilyn Monroe tease in a flirty white halter dress.
Sipping from the fountain of youth along with Donna is Vera Wang. Her all-black ensemble wasn’t as glamorous as I expected, but I know better than to speak ill of icons…it creates bad fashion karma!
We all know Zac Posen’s dresses were made for the red carpet, thus it was no surprise that fashion darling Greta Gerwig was the lady he chose to dress for the night. Her long-sleeve red draped gown was fabulous.
Karen Elson has been doing the modeling thing for ages and she looked like a style pro in a gold Michael Kors dress. I wouldn’t mind finding this in my closet tomorrow morning.
I have a bit of a crush on Thom Browne and I really loved his short suit for the night.
Red was one of the night’s big colors and Busy Philipps wore it well in a high, ruffle neck Honor gown. This was gorgeous.
With a face and legs like Karlie Kloss, I was sure that her look would wow me, but…that didn’t happen. Her scarf-inspired gown and lace-up booties were a bit lackluster for the occasion.
Queen of the Cartwheel, Betsey Johnson, tried on retro-inspired look for size. This woman is an icon and always wears what she likes — it wasn’t my cup of tea, but I’d never throw shade at Mrs. Johnson.
