By Mikelle

  • Armani Junior has released backstage footage of the Quvenzhane Wallis’s shoot for the brand’s Fall 2014 campaign. The young actress cycles through a host of fun faces, and looks like she’s having a genuine good time while shooting. “I felt the same excitement when I got cast for a major film,” said Wallis about the campaign. “I was honored to wear his custom gown to the Oscars. It made me feel like a princess.” Kudos to her! (Grazia UK)

1 Salma Hayek by Dusan Reljin for InStyle July 2013

  • At a recent conference, editors from Elle, InStyle and Teen Vogue gave career tips to fashionista hopefuls. In addition to saying not to stress too much about what you wear and to keep your social media accounts updated, the editors said don’t bother writing a cover letter. “I search for you online, I don’t read cover letters,” Ariel Foxman of InStyle said.  Instead keep your email short, informative, and sweet, and attach your resume. Duro Olowu Thelma Golden

  • Duro Olowu has unleashed an exhibit in Salon 94′s Freeman Alley space called More Material.  As an expansion of his 2012 show, the exhibit has everything from fashion illustrations by Antonio Lopez to street photography and other art.  There’s also a shop showing Oluwo’s pieces. “The show is really an extension of my last show,” said Oluwo. “[This time] I really wanted to show the rebellious side of women, the way they’re represented, and the way they represent themselves with elegance–elegant rebellion.“(Style)

  • The Metropolitan Museum of Art has launched ‘Recalling Charles James,’ an online audio feature revealing more information about the Costume Institute’s latest featured designer.  The clips are filled with anecdotes from the likes of James’s last assistant Homer Lane, as well as others who encountered him, bringing to light just how painstaking James’s perfectionism could be. “If you’re talking about personality, Charlie could be very difficult to be with,” said Mary Ellen Hecht of the designer. “He was a pain in the bottom. If the pin is a quarter of a centimeter not where he wanted, all of the pins in that line came out and were replaced.” The result: beauty. (WWD)
