Donna Karan is thought of as a New York institution really, yet in the past few years she seems to be having a little trouble. Not too long ago, Bloomingdales stopped carrying her line, there have been talks of someone replacing her at the helm, and other discussions of the brand possibly losing focus. Through it all — the fact that she doesn’t have an It Bag to speak of included, which we’ll get back to in a second — the designer stays remarkably calm. Oh and about that It Bag, Karan says that because her parent company LVMH, which has owned her brand for 13 years, hasn’t been as close as she would have hoped. “I would love to work more with them, but Vuitton has given me the cold shoulder,” she said.
