The Fashion Bomb News Breakdown: Kerry Washington Secretly Had Her Baby, Jourdan Dunn Has A Twitter Spat With Lily Allen, and Gwyneth Paltrow’s Opening A Goop Pop-Up Shop

• If you’ve noticed a marked lack of Kerry Washington‘s usual slayage in recent weeks, it’s because she was too busy birthing her brand new baby girl! TMZ reports that the Scandal actress secretly gave birth to her first child with husband Nnamdi Asoumugha, Isabelle Amarachi Asomugha… on April 21st. Congratulations to Kerry and Nnamdi! (TMZ)

• If you were expecting Marc Jacobs to rock some sort of wacky outfit at the Met Gala on Monday, think again. The designer is retiring his lace dress, white boxer shorts, and other effects thanks to the event’s strict white tie dress code. He told The Cut that he’ll be in Saint Laurent for the evening. “I mean it’s not exciting as wearing a lace dress and boxer shorts, but that was only for Miuccia Prada,” he said. This is much more straightforward.” (The Cut)

• Aspiring shade queen Lily Allen has been getting herself into a lot of trouble this week. The singer caught flak earlier this week for mocking Beyoncé in an admittedly strange pantomime performance of “Drunk in Love”  at London’s G-A-Y nightclub, and now, she’s sparked the ire of Jourdan Dunn. The buzzy model posted some lyrics from Allen’s Sheezus track, “Insincerely Yours,” which reference Dunn and her pal Cara Delevingne“I don’t give a f*** about Delevingne / Or that Rita girl / About Jourdan Dunn” Allen quips before digging the knife in further. “I don’t wanna know about your perfect life / Your perfect wife and it makes me sick / I don’t give a f*** about your Instagram / About your lovely house or your ugly kids.” As you know, Dunn has an adorable four-year-old son Riley. Dunn clapped back, “Errm @lilyallen who’s ‘ugly kids’ was you talking about in this song??” Lily’s response? “It’s a reference to something another artist said about my children on Twitter,” she said. “[I] only mentioned you cause your name rhymes with ‘one’. Sorry.” But Jourdan was having none of it. Ohhh because my name rhymes with ‘One’!!!!! Look at you, you lil lyrical genius!!” And that’s the shade of the day, folks! (Telegraph)
J.Crew January

• Earlier this year, our dreams of better-priced jacquard J.Crew collection cafe capris were dashed when their PR department came out to refute claims made by CEO Mickey Drexler that they were lowering their prices.  But all is not lost! According to the Wall Street Journal, J.Crew’s planning on opening a lower-priced brand called J. Crew Mercantile. They’ve already registered the trademark, having filing for one as last November. So, how will J. Crew Mercantile be different from J. Crew Factory, you ask? Mercantile will be its own brand, whereas Factory will continue to serve in more of an “outlet” capacity. Either way, I expect plenty of J. Crew fans with shallower pockets will be shopping. Self included. (Fashionsta)

•  Gwyneth Paltrow is serious about moving the headquarters of her Goop lifestyle brand from London to Los Angeles. The actress posted an image to her Instagram earlier today of what appears to be the storefront for a Goop pop-up shop. The eagle-eyed folks at Refinery 29 say it looks like it’s located in the Brentwood County Mart, the same shopping complex that houses brands like Jenni Kayne and Intermix. The store is expected to be open from May 5th-11th, which could explain why Gwyneth’s PR lady said she was too busy to attend the Met Gala this year. Angelenos, do you plan on stopping by Gwynnie’s store? (Refinery29)
