So even though they stepped out in force, all wearing Valentino for brunch, and then got their friends like LaLa Anthony all gussied up in Givenchy for other events, the Kardashian brigade has not woo’d all of the fashion industry. Vogue-editrix Anna Wintour did allow them a cover of her magazine but she is not allowing Kim and Kanye the honor of her presence during their nuptials today. “Anna had a longstanding family commitment this weekend and sadly had to miss the wedding,” confirmed a Vogue spokesperson. Anna, reapplying your lipstick is not a “longstanding family commitment.” P.S. Expect more #KimYeWedding news as we get it! (Page Six)
The year of Pharrell continues as more details emerge about his upcoming unisex fragrance Girl. Made in collaborations with Comme des Garcons, the scent will hit Sephora and all Dover Street Markets on September 5 and will have a “woody” scent. If you plan on buying it, you won’t be alone–the CDG crew expect $10 million in retail sales in the first year. Not going to lie though, I’d get it just to carry the art splashed bottle around. (WWD)
Next up for Gisele Bundchen after that H&M music video moment? Chanel No. 5. As a follow up to Marilyn Monroe’s cameo last year as the face of the brand — don’t ask, but it did happen — the supermodel will appear in a campaign directed by Baz Luhrmann of Great Gatsby fame. I’m hedging my bets on a little Old World glamour for this one. (Fashionista)
Back at the Topshop show — you know the one Kendall Jenner sat front row at with Anna Wintour, yeah that one — I noticed a sneaker from some backstage Instagrams. They popped up again backstage at Katy Perry’s show and now they’re on the campaign video for the Topshop X ASHISH collaboration. Though other pieces from the collection include campy text tees, it’s those LED platform sneakers that have my attention. The collection goes in stores Thursday! (Topshop’s YouTube channel)
The next time one of your fashion friends gossips about Frida Giannini being on her way out at Gucci, feel free to side eye them. The conversation has been bubbling for a few months with some reports looking to Riccardo Tisci as a possible successor(though Tisci has said repeatedly that he’s quite fine at Givenchy) and now Giannini has gone on record to say she’s staying put. And what’s more? She just renewed her contract. (Style.com)
