The Fashion Bomb News Breakdown: Shop The Forever 21 x Basquiat and Keith Haring Iconic Capsule Collection, Catfish’s Nev Schulman Models Jay Z’s Rocawear, and John Galliano Named Creative Director at L’Etoile
You can never have enough collaborations nor art in your closet! Yesterday we got wind of the Altuzarra X Target collab and today it’s the Forever 21 collaboration featuring art by Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring. It’s thoroughly sublime with the artists’ sketches and doodles splashed over tanks, swimsuits, and pencil skirts in mostly primary colors. Perfect music festival fits! (Teen Vogue)
Nev Schulman shot to fame by making the word “catfish” a verb. The MTV show host has now added model to his resumé, flaunting pieces from Jay Z’s Rocawear label. While it’s pretty clear he always was a looker, we’re still surprised he seems pretty effortless in his poses. Here’s to another self-made, likely well-paid celebrity. (MTV)
Jason Wu loves dolls and super models, so of course his dream project involves merging the two. “A supermodel collection with all the big ones” is his idea of an ideal collection, that would undoubtedly include Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell, and Stephanie Seymour. We’re anxiously awaiting what he comes with! (The Cut)
John Galliano is now the creative director for L’Etoile. So no, he’s not designing gowns, but he will be helping create makeup and accessories. Galliano himself called it “a really exciting opportunity and challenge for me.” (WWD)
Though the buildup to the Kimye wedding has been long and arduous, today is actually the first official day of wedding festivities. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West had brunch with the fam at Valentino’s chateau this morning, and will host a celebration at the Palace of Versailles today, all leading up to the nuptials tomorrow. In addition to the assistants Kim will likely have on hand to help with these mind numbing outfit changes, Kim has flown in Chris McMillan, hair guru for Jennifer Aniston and Sarah Jessica Parker, to do her hair for the entire weekend.
